Is Utilization of the Disneyland Railroad Being Underestimated?

The Disneyland Railroad is the only attraction at Disneyland that doesn't ask people to leave after one complete cycle.

Do you happen to be one of the passengers that stays aboard the train for more than one full excursion, and how often do you engage in that practice?

I think the reason they dont kick people is off is maybe because they just got on at the stop before. Maybe they got on a Tomorrowland and they want to go to Toontown. If they booted everybody off at Main St., they would have to get back in line again.

I have gone on numerous trips around the park. I think it would be dumb for them to kick you off at a certain stop

It depends on how bad my feet are hurting. Once my son (when he was about 3) fell asleep on the train - we rode around 4 or more times just to let him rest!

When I go on the Railroad, I definitely stay for more than a few stops, but definitely getting off someplace else. It's the relaxing type of fun that I don't enjoy enough.

I've done that to. Once, my boy fell asleep and I sat there and read a new book I bought from the book store on Main street.

The budgets for the attraction are based on this utilization, so I'm wondering if Disney is getting a complete picture of the ways people use the trains based solely on turnstile counts.

I do not think it is anything of an issue or Disneyland Management would already have this in place. And like one of the previous posters said, how could they determine who got on and what stop and etc. Making EVERYONE clear the train at certain stops would seem more in-efficient than anything else currently in place.

I totally use it for transportation....it has been years since I've gone the entire loop....come to think of it; it has been years since I've even done the section between ToonTown and Tomorrowland.

I don't think they care that much about the accuracy of DLRR's usage. It's going to go around. It has a specific maintenance schedule for each train, etc. Its budget is not likely dependent on usage.

I could be wrong, but I think they only do this when they are about to pull the Engine off the line. Also it may have something to do with crowding, but my guess would be those two things.

Its been years since i have rode it all the way around the park, and I have never gone from one stoap all the way back to that same stop ever (at least I dont think I have). We usually take it to get to opposite areas of he park when the kids are tired.

While I don't think I could imagine myself going any of the Magic Kingdoms without taking the Grand Circle Tour, I do question the popularity of that aspect of the attraction. I don't think MiceChat is the appropriate forum to ask such a question. MiceChat does not represent the typical visitor to any of the parks.

It seems to me that pure attendence is the best means of accounting for the utilization of the Disneyland Railroad. I really can't conceive of a way to track who does stay longer. It would be very easy to see what percentage stays on at each station. Keeping track of individuals beyond that seems rather daunting.

Yea, I always ride around the park at least twice when I'm tired after lunch and have ridden alot of the rides. Never been bothered about riding for too long, maybe the CMs don't notice? (Well, I guess they'd have to, since you know...well yea :o)
