Chicken Of The Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant Model

The latest piece turned out of the Nautilus workshop...

The model company Revell produces a plastic model kit called the “Caribbean Pirate Ship, Jolly Roger” based on the old Chicken of the Sea restaurant ship at Disneyland. It is surprising accurate to the real thing except for the entrance and exit doorways. So I bought the ship, put it together, and all I had to do was paint it differently and make the sails. Someday I want to make Skull Rock to go with and put it in a “lagoon”. This ship is loaded with detail. As Mary Poppins would say it's "practically perfect in every way".

So here is my “Chicken Of The Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant” in miniature!









You could almost smell the tuna sandwiches...

Another thought: A fairly frequent topic on these boards is "How does one become an Imagineer?" Lots of advice is usually offered: Study hard; take engineering courses; know someone.

All great advice. But here we have a 15-year-old kid building an actual portfolio.

Ask what the orignal Imagineers brought to the table when they applied for the job...
