2 hurt in Disney accident

They were taken to hospitals after falling off the parking lot tram, park officials said.

The Orange County Register
ANAHEIM - Two people were hurt Friday night when they fell off a tram in a parking lot at Disneyland, park officials said.
Bob Tucker, a park spokesman, said the individuals were taken to local hospitals after falling off the slow-moving tram at approximately 10:30 p.m.
He said the tram was moving at about 5 miles per hour and that the park did not be close following the incident.
Tucker did not have further details.

How can someone that is sitting in their seat in a tram going 5 mph fall out? It is not as if it whips around turns or anything. They were probably doing something stupid to begin with.

They probably just fell asleep. It could happen.

Possibly although I have never seen anyone fall dead asleep on the 6 or so minute trip to the parking lot. In deep enough sleep to the point of that at least.

Re: 2 hurt in Disney accident-OC Register

I'm picturing the first person dropping his/her keys/camera/hats and/or glasses and reaching out to pick the item up because, after all, the tram isn't going that fast. As that person loses balance and begins falling, the second person reaches out and grabs for a limb. Person #2 isn't strong enough to hold Person #1 back but is strong enough to hold on and be pulled out with P1.

I bet the tram personnel are longing for the days when they accelerated like rockets, braked hard and whipped along their routes to prevent this sort of thing.

Must have been a pretty slow newsday at the OC Register.

"In other news, grass was seen growing near the corner of Katella and Harbor."

Re: 2 hurt in Disney accident-OC Register

I think these people want money. Their probably going to sue Disney and Disney Will end up settling. If these people did this on a tram going 5MPH than I have a feeling that these people were fooling around

Re: 2 hurt in Disney accident-OC Register

I was there last night trying to get a tram, but ended up being re-routed to walk the tram route. Decided against it in favor of Denny's, but I did see a bunch of commotion. It looked like the tram was stopped before the first right turn into the Timon lot, after the drop off area.

Re: 2 hurt in Disney accident-OC Register

It's not hard to fall out of that tram really :P I've had my head leaning against the bar at the end of it cuz i was tired and then as we went into a turn i realized if my head slipped off the bar my body's momentum would send me onto the concrete in no time. :P

2 people is iffy unless there was lap sitting(which is a no no except for very small children).

I do enjoy that the spokesman had to state that the park did not to be closed over this.

"Sorry folks Disneyland is closed. 2 people fell off the parking lot tram and we have to close over safety concerns. You can come back when the DOSH finishes their report."
