    After 5pm Seasonal Passports

Another item from the Opus Archives, but this time I'm looking for old info rather than dishing out old info. Here's the blast from the past from the back of one of the Disneyland Entertainment Guide flyers from 1985:

These two puppies have been one of the only things missing in action from my Disneyland ticket collection, and I'd like to find out a bit more about them. Not really looking to acquire them...just more into. So if any of you had or recall these puppies:

    - Was there any real difference between the two advertised above, other than perhaps the graphics on them?

    - Happen to have a photo or scan of them?

Can you imagine how crowded the Parks would be in the Summer evenings if they still sold these babies! And forty bucks? Sounds like a pretty darn good deal accounting for full-day ticket prices back then.

Awesome idea though, I think it would be great to bring back evening passports.

What a great deal! I remember a friend of mine had one of those after 4 passes.

I don't think they'd consider it nowadays. Would probably take away too much business from the full year type annual passports.

Plus Summer nights are pretty darn packed and unmanageable these days as it is!

Me too. During the summer months, the only time I show up - usually - is after 4 or 5pm anyway. Standing in direct sunlight and in the heat all day long really is rough - the heat at night would be doable.

Well, if AP's didn't exist, this could be brought back.
    Just sayin'.

That would be a good idea or even a discount admission to DCA after 4. I know other places do (Wild Rivers).
Clarification: other places have discount tickets, but not passes for after 4. DCA would be smart to do something!

    It's a half-day park. Having half-day passes seems logical.

That would be smart for the execs to think about doing this for DCA. My wife and I (before we were married) took her niece and nephew to DCA. She arrived around 4pm with the kids and we were done with almost every single thing by 9pm - and had even gone on somethings twice......so an evening AP would be a good idea for DCA.

    Re: After 5pm Seasonal Passports

Apparently they were still doing these Seasonal Summer Night Passports into 1993 at least. A very nice person that read this thread just emailed me the following scan:

That year's (a Magic Kingdom Club version) looks to be a pretty generic front of one of the old laminated kinds of Passports with the back of the pass indicating the Summer Night part.

You may also notice that in 1993 this MKC Summer Night Pass was valid for almost 2 months more than the 1985 version. May 1 as opposed to June 22 start date. Don't know if that extra time was common, or something exclusive to MKC Members. The "MKC Month" designation might indicate that some sort of bonus additional time.

Still looking for a Videopolis version of this after 5pm Seasonal Pass.

    Thanks!

Thumbs up Re: After 5pm Seasonal Passports

I know I have one somewhere.

Hey, 40 bucks was alot for me then... but, oh so worth it. my friends and I got one the day they went one sell and had one of the best summers ever!

the "graphics" were no different. though the copy on the back may have been. but, they looked just like the above example .. but, i think it had a red background/border.

who else remembers watching Fantasy In The Sky while dancing to the tunes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood - "Relax"?

ahh, fond memories of the past indeed.

Sort of related...from the Opus Archives...an advertisement that ran in the Los Angeles Times on July 29, 1990...for an After 5pm Day Ticket.

Kind of a nice tie-in with Disneyland's opening year of 1955.

    Re: After 5pm Seasonal Passports

$40.00 in 1985 dollars is equal to $75.00 in todays money, converted for inflation.

So that is still an excellent value for a 3 month after-5 pass, considering that a one day ticket now costs $63.00.
