Question Dick Dale ON Space Mountain

I was posting my response about which ride soundtrack I enjoy, and of course I said Rockin' because I am a big RHCP fan. Then I started to recall Dick Dale which had his music on there as well. Looking around online I found this and was wondering if it is true ... and more importantly does anybody have any pictures!?!

Dick Dale has done the unbelievable, he has done what no other person has ever done, nor been allowed to do, in the history of Disneyland.

Being the thrill seeker and not being one to back down from a challenge, Dick Dale climbed a steel ladder mounted to the side of "Disneyland's Space Mountain."

Dale climbed to the very top and stood with his Fender Stratocaster guitar, "The Beast", and played Ghost Riders and Miserlou on an eight foot by eight foot platform without the use of a safety harness and only a guide wire to keep Dale from going off the platform.

Dale said, standing above everyone and looking directing across at "The Matterhorn" was the most titanic venture he has ever done in his life. "It can't get any better then this," Dale screamed to the sky above.

Dick Dale's quote to the audience was "First there was the Matterhorn, then there was Tinkerbell, then there was Space Mountain. Now there is Dick Dale on top of Tomorrowland!"

It's true. No pictures, but remember it well.

Sounds like something he would do. Would've been amazing to see.

I totally agree! It would have been so surreal to see something like that!
