Goofy's Kitchen woes

Hello everyone, I have been a lurker on this website for a couple of months now and have felt very compelled to post about recent expiriences my wife and I have had at goofy's kitchen. The past visits have not been very good because of the bad service we have received, first of all I didnt like how I had to ask multiple times just get a soft drink refill, I mean come on its all the servers are paid to do right? since its a buffet and all and the restaurant wasnt crowded. Second of all the servers seem to be really pushy/physical with characters lately. They need to step off and let the characters do their thing. "RANT AHEAD" Im guessing its policy to have a character present for a birthday? I dont know what you all think of this personally, but I dont like seeing a character/princess physically being hauled by the arm over to another section by an irrate server who just wants his/her big tip money or whatever, I think its greedy and I consider that to be "bad show". Dont let the service get to you though after all the character interaction is top notch and is always a plus especially if you have children.

Re: Goofy's Kitchen woes

I have noticed what you are talking about recently. I understand that the servers want the big tip and the ability to create a magical memory but some of them go over the top. I think there is probably a better way to handle this. I won't be going there too much anymore. The food is mediocre for the price, what you are paying for is the character interaction, but since it is just me and my fiance who are both in our 20's all the characters did was walk by our table with a wave if anything.

Re: Goofy's Kitchen woes

Isn't gratuity included in the price? And I know that there is a time limit to be there (like 2 hours per table), so, I've felt rushed sometimes by servers.

I have never had any problems with Goofys Kitchen and I'm a frequent customer. Perhaps you've only been once and don't know the deal?

Characters have always come up to my table even if we are all teens and adults. They don't discriminate if you're older. Also, the servers are only supposed to bring you a drink so I wouldn't expect much from them.

I am a frequent customer as well, at least I was. The last three times I have gone it has been the same thing. If we are lucky maybe one character will stop long enough to take a picture.

So, they tack gratuity on the bill when you first walk up. In my mind gratuity is another word for tip. It is a pretty big tip too if I remember correctly. With that I am to only expect one drink out of them and nothing more? I have gotten better service at a Denny's then some of my trips over there. If I have to hound down a server for a refill and have them practically pushing me out the door if I spend too long in there eating it is fine because we should expect it?

We've never had a problem with the characters. We always get plenty of time and pictures.

If I had two cute sons such as yours I am sure the characters would be flocking to my table also.

Re: Goofy's Kitchen woes

I'm not gonna lie.. I went for the food. I like brunch and I don't know why it's only ever served on Sundays. lol

At the same time, I HATE dining with characters so you can have mine. Usually we'd just run up to the buffet whenever a character would get close.

Re: Goofy's Kitchen woes

The morale to my story/post, Goofy's Kitchen is all about the characters, the servers need to treat them respectfully and let them have their fun. Pardon me making anybody cringe but the servers do not even care about the meaning of the show, I mean these are the world famous disney characters you see in the movies, and the servers treat them as if they are just people in costumes. I dont like that.

Re: Goofy's Kitchen woes

You might want to try the character breakfast at Plaza Inn over at Disneyland. I hear it is done very well.

We hear a fair amount of complaints about Goofy's Kitchen. Not sure what is going on over there. But there are a lot of other really good restaurants at the resort. I'd strongly suggest spending your money at the places that get the best reviews and avoid the problem spots.

I wouldn't apply that to everyone's experience there. It all depends on your attitude and the time you go. Everytime I've gone the characters have done their best and were allowed to do whatever they wanted. Maybe you went at a busy time.

You're only allowed an hour and thirty minutes inside Goofys Kitchen. If a character walks by you then call their name and have them come over. It's really not such a huge issue. I'm sure they do cater to kids more though so if a party of older adults go maybe the character feels weirded out.

Re: Goofy's Kitchen woes

The seriously best time to go is around 11:30 or noon because it closes at 1 so people start leaving and you get the characters all to yourself. Last time, Goofy sat with my friend and I for a half hour. I kid you not.
