Intriguing, weird, unusual, neat places to watch the fireworks?

Going to DL tonight and noticed there will be fireworks (no Fantasmic!). I've seen them many times and not sure if I want to battle the crowds to get the prime viewing spot in front of the Castle. I was actually thinking about doing (cue sinister music) THE EXACT OPPOSITE!

Where is the "non-prime" viewing spot? The places that are just plain neat or weird, intriguing or unusual... a place that gives you a totally different vantage point and a new appreciation for this amazing spectacle.

Mine are...
viewing while:
riding the Sun Wheel in DCA,
riding the Mark Twain standing on the top deck (no Fantasmic! tonight),
standing near the Dumbo area,
sitting at a balcony table at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (real mint julep in hand).

My feelings are most people today think the prime viewing spot is in the hub, but mine is still on Main Street but it is a specific spot on Main Street.

Back in the day, I would have an Orange Juice Bar at the Main Street Citrus House, and then wander out and see the Electric Parade. Right after that we would just go onto Main Street and watch the show from there. This spot is near where the Penny Arcade is today.

In my opinion this is the BEST spot to view them from. The perspective is very similar to the old Wonderful World of Disney shows. The fireworks are far away enough so that the castle and the surrounding area including the fireworks take up your field of vision. A very nice viewing spot!

First, you've got to have the soundtrack to the current fireworks show on cd, in a portable stereo. With the soundtrack in hand, the viewing possibilities are endless! Some of my outside-the-park favorites are:

• The top of the Southernmost stairwell on the East side of the parking structure.
• The top floor hallways of the Fairfield Inn on Harbor Blvd.
• The top floor hallways of the Hotel Menage at Ball Road and Harbor Blvd.
• The Paradise Pier Hotel fireworks viewing area
• Between Tortilla Joes and the House of Blues in Downtown Disney.

I'm going to have to try the Sunwheel, sounds awesome!

OK. Well, the most off the wall place for me to see them is sitting outside of my friend's apartment. Which is directly behind the Disneyland Hotel!

Catal restaurant - great views of most of the fireworks!

The pool area of the Paradice Pier Hotel. They pipe the soundtrack in and it's not crowded. You don't have to be staying there, the door is open. Just go to the north end and enjoy.
You can also do what I did and bring a glass of wine up from the bar in the lobby to enjoy while you watch.

I like to sit outside of IASW, on the cement bench that's outside of the IASW shop. There aren't a million people there, and, you can still hear the music, etc.

I like to sit outside of IASW, on the cement bench that's outside of the IASW shop. There aren't a million people there, and, you can still hear the music, etc.

This is a great, underrated place to watch them! I love the views from IASW, I haven't seen them since they added the projections, but I am sure its cool.

I watched them once from the outside queue for Space Mountain- it was AWESOME!!!! A completely different perspective.

Riding something like Splash Mountain or Big Thunder is really cool too.

Back in the day, the best place to watch was backstage in front of the Inn Between to watch Tink crash and then secretly sneak away.

On the roof of the Mark Twain.

Just ask if you can go up in the Pilot House before fireworks and see if the CM will let you watch the fireworks form the roof. It's the chance of a lifetime.

the best ever, was by accident...

a few years ago, we were on a family trip, and the boys went back to the room, so K and I had some time alone...she wanted to watch the fireworks, and wanted to ride Big Thunder, but we only had time for one, so she chose Big Thunder...giving up the prospect of Fireworks...

and then they started just as we got on the train....it was truely magical...and amazing, you couldn't plan that moment...and the look on her face

I love Disneyland, Magic happens all the time...
