HBG2,

On top of the pictures you posted showing the link beteen the 2 constances, Next time you go to the park, go in both stretching rooms. In one room she has a ring, in the other room she doesn't.

Fascinating Stuff!

Well when would they refurb the ride to add him in? Would it be after *shudder* the next HMH, and just slip him in without much ado?

Speaking of the hallway, those doors have the best knockers.

That's the "middle" bride. The first, original bride looked like this and was there from 1969 until 1995, with only minor alterations:

The second, middle bride lasted from 1995 until May 2006:

The DL version of this model is generally thought to be superior to the WDW version, which is still there and gets lots of razzing as the "smurf" bride, etc.

No I know that. But there's the old new bride (haha) with the voice. That's why I posted it, Hatbox

Oh, I got it.

Yeah, there was this weird, in-between period last Spring when they were trying out the new soundtrack but had not yet unveiled Constance. That video is kind of a valuable historical record of the oddities of the transition period.

Re: Long-forgotten Haunted Mansion Effect?

Howdy All,

Just a few things I remember from reading 3 new pages of posts:

Thanks for the Churro!

As for the attic screams, the ones heard on the doombuggies page are a mix of Attic and Graveyard screams. The one at the end that sounds like a High Pitched scream, then a dry heave is actually a scream of one of the bike riders. The high pitched noise is the bike wheels.

Just throwing that in there.

Re: Long-forgotten Haunted Mansion Effect?

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, and it's not so much a forgotten effect as it is a forgotten reference...but...as you exit your Doombuggy and just as you start up the ramp, if you stop and listen closely, you'll hear a haunting little melody...

If you would like join our jamboree,
There's a single rule that's compulsory,
Mortals pay a token fee,
Rest In Peace...the haunting's free,
So hurry back, we would like your company...

The "mortals pay a token fee" was a reference to the "E Ticket" you needed to purchase back then in order to ride the attraction.

Just listened to "Guy the Ghoul"'s ride-thru cassette tape from 1976, and you're right, some of the attic screams are definitely different than the Doombuggies sound file.

Hmmm. Could be.

Reminds me of the old days when I would burn up five E-tickets in a row on the Haunted Mansion

Re: Long-forgotten Haunted Mansion Effect?

OMG. The Mansion is my favorite ride, but I only go to Disneyland once a year or so. Twice a year at most. Anyway, last time I went was February last year during the 50th and the Mansion was closed for rehab after HMH and some other rehab stuff they were doing. So, sadly, I have not ridden HM in two years. I haven't even seen the effects from the 50th. I'm going to be there next week...sounds like the Mansion will be totally different than last time I went. I can't wait to check out the new attic scene! Did they really get rid of those Ghost Host lines ("Some of our guests have be dying to get through..." and "Perhaps Madame Leota can establish contact....")? That stinks, I like those lines - they're funny, and Paul Frees is AMAZING.

And wow Opus, I've never even thought about that, but that makes sense! I just always assumed the "token fee" was to rest in peace...but that doesn't really make sense with the next line.

However, the stretched portrait on the left is cropped off too high. The grave is definitely newly poured sod. The stretched portrait of Constance is presumably of her right after (maybe a few days) after she murdered him.

You know? I tried to take pictures inside the HM but my camera phone wouldn't work. Worked fine once I got out but didn't work one bit inside. Weird!

ML, have you been since Jan/05? If not, there's TWO waves of changes you've missed. In Jan/05 Madame Leota became airborne and the changing portraits were redone with a newer and better technology, and April/December was swapped out for Master Gracey. In May/06 the attic was redone with the Constance theming, and a little later a ghostly "Face" began appearing in the Séance room. There have been a few other minor things too. Seeing as how you're "Madame Leota," it is more than appropriate for us to say, "Heads up on your next visit."
