ummmm... we all know Space Mountain is going to open, but did anyone verify the source of the information? There was a similar incident of unverified information being released before that caused a big hupla.

It is probably going to be soon but very unlikely by Tuesday though.

It would be totally radd if they opened it for grad night although I don't think they probably hold the high school kids in high enough esteem to really care.

I think the best bet is that Space Mountain 2 will soft open on to the general public on July 15th or 16th, while the park enjoys lots of pre-birthday press attention. I plan to be there!

As far as I'm concerned, Disneyland can court the press all that they want prior to the 17th, but on THE DAY, the media (their tents, and their blocked off areas) should be given the boot into the background. The park's regular guests (it's devoted fans) should be the focus of attention for the celebration. What a travesty it would be if they made the same mistake as on the kick-off event.

For the sake of crowd control, I really do think that they will open all the rides that they can on July 17th. Logic dictates thatSpace Mountain 2 will be officially dedicated and open on this day. The question is, who will perform the ceremony. Vin Diesel did the honors for the official opening of DLP's Space Mountain 2.

Wait, I though they said it would open on the 15th.

The new Space Mountain CM costumes are really great, too.

I won't tell the initial date that they are able to be checked out at though.

I'd expect it to open a week or two before it opens officialy

they'll probably do something like they did for Buzz and have it open only to hotel guests who come in for their special early hours time

then after a week or so of that when all the fans catch on then they'll open it up for regular soft openings

then on the 17th they'll dedicate it and all

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to be open any earlier than a week or two before the official opening. First, the CMs need to be fully trained, and according to some posts on other boards, they haven't even started that yet.

Fingers crossed, I'm going to guess the 10th of July as the first soft opening date. Complete wild guess on my part, however.

Soon is relative....I would say July 15th is soon...given the fact that they are now setting up the outdoor queue, though, I'd guess that guests will be riding it within the next 3 weeks or so in unannounced guest previews.

Al has stated and I've also gotten the line from CMs that the official opening of Space Mountain is July 15th. And those CMs were tour gudes, so I trust their info a bit more than the average worker. It will be open on the 15th. Not soft, regular old open. As for the soft openings...well, beginning of July and the earliest I would guess. So, yes....soon (TM).

Yah. The publicized OFFICIAL grand opening of Space Mountain is July 15. The Space Mountain costumes were out on display on front in costuming the other day.

I bet they've already started random soft openings and no one's noticed yet! It looks good to go to me!

My personal guess is that we would see soft openings after July 4 because they tend not to do soft opening over busy weekends.

The soft opening, and you did NOT hear this from me, is a day in July that is towards the beginning of the month, a holiday and there are usually lots of extra fireworks going off.
