    Columbia Land Locked

Mark Twain is down for 2 months like I mentioned in an earlier post and now apparently the Columbia is going to be docked at the Fronteirland Station for 2 months. A sitting walk-thru exhibit while they work on TSI.

Did they go down because of the work on TSI? I just figure they don't want people seeing the tractors and such.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

Probably the best way to experience the Columbia. It's a nice idea, and beats the heck out of shutting it down.

Do you suppose they'll tarp the train route too?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

    Already been happening.
But it was still taking trips after dark. Have those stopped completely?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Re: Columbia Land Locked

It doesn't sound like it will be coming back at night. Some of the CMs in the area had mentioned it would be operating, but looking at the lates CM Reference Guide, it looks like it's not moving for 2 months.

As for TSI, it's good for them since they can basically run the construction without worry about the barge blocking the Columbia. It also doesn't mention that the Canoes are down, so perhaps there will be better luck there.

Also the Railroad will be down again from 5/7 through 6/8. So that only gives about a month to see any TSI construction as is.

It still sets sail at night. It was sailing tonight and broke down near the Hungry Bear at about 8. It normally starts sailing after 6, but they don't tell people that.

In the old days this used to be SOP any time the Columbia was not sailing the Rivers of America. Only back then the "walk-through only" attraction entrance was at Fowler's Harbor. It had a very professional sign and everything, indicating you could tour the ship for just one "B" ticket coupon. They did this whenever it was docked from its opening in 1958, until sometime in the 80's.

I believe this made the Sailing Ship Columbia the only attraction that had 2 different ticket levels during the same period of time. B and E, and later when Columbia got "demoted"...B and D. I don't think the "B" version was ever printed on the actual ticket coupons however. It believe it was just advertised on the sign at the entrance to the ship. But I could be wrong about that and the B version might have been listed on printed materials at some times.

The last couple of years before they did away with the docked-only version of the Columbia...I seem to recall they did away with requiring a ticket altogether...and for a brief time it was a free walk-on attraction.
