Darkbeer's Various Disneyland Birthday Weekend Meets

Heheh, Darkbeer's not the only one having a bunch of parties at the resort that weekend. One thread per host, please!
For the last few years, I have hosted a meet at the Cove Bar during the July 17th BD celebrations, this year, it will be Friday, July 15th from about 6:30 PM till about 8 PM...

    A pre-meet will happen first...

Join us near the Golden Zepher and watch the Block Party Bash, this is the third zone, and should arrive around 5:45 PM.

For those who don't know the pathways that well, if you are coming from the Canoe Meet, leave DL from Main Street...

When you enter DCA, stay towards the right, and follow the path to Condor Flats, use that pathway (to avoid the entertainment corridor) and follow that around to the Golden Dreams/Bathroom Row area, make a right, and the group should be on the left just before the Golden Zepher queue.

Then after the BPB, it is just an easy walk to the Cove Bar....

    And then the big meet...

This time on a Friday, to allow Deluxe AP holders to attend.

The Cove Bar is located above Ariel's Grotto in the Paradise Pier area...

Here is a link to the current menu...

    http://www.dlresortinfo.com/DCAMenus...r/covebar.html

All ages are welcome to attend... (You must be 21 or older to enjoy adult beverages)

    Hope to see you there.

If you are planning to attend either of these gatherings, please let me know by PM, e-mail or just posting in this thread, THANKS!

Darkbeer's Various Disneyland Birthday Weekend Meets

Due to the fact that many of the folks I know from the internet community will be staying at the Howard Johnson's during the 50th celebrations, I will be hosting evening events there...

    http://www.hojoanaheim.com/

Friday night, July 15th from around 10 PM to Midnight (The pool area closes at Midnight), though the early show starts about 9:15 PM (Fireworks while sitting in the Jacuzzi!)

Saturday night, July 16th, from around 11 PM (due to other commitments) to Midnight.

    The tradition continues...

The meet this year will be held in the Main Pool/Jacuzzi area.

All ages are welcome, though any children swimming must have a responsible adult supervising them at all times.

The Pool area offers a nice changing room and restroom building. Towels are provided, but PLEASE, they are NOT souverniers!!!! Just drop them in the dirty towel bin on your way out....

While some food and drink (JELLO SHOTS!!! ) will be provided (Please, only those 21 and over will be allowed to enjoy the "adult" beverages), I recommend bringing your own if you are picky (such as wanting Caffeine free Diet Coke). Also, PLEASE no glass containers!!! HoJo's does have a gift shop that is open late.

As for expected attire. This is a meet, and I presume most folks will come in casual attire, and not bathing attire. The pool area has a lot of tables and chairs, and that is the main purpose. So don't worry if you don't want to swim and/or soak, regular park attire is JUST fine!!!

But feel free to wear bathing attire if you want to.... Heck, maybe just go barefoot

Don't forget, the HoJo's Jacuzzi is a GREAT place to watch the fireworks at 9:25 PM.

    Hope to see you there....

For planning purposes, please let me know if you will be attending, and which date(s).. THANKS!

Deogge's Mom is hosting a special Space Mountain meet - Sat, 7/16 at 2 PM

The plans for this meet is for folks to get a FASTPASS for Space Mountain in the morning, then meet at 2 PM by the large Rocket Ship near the Pizza Port/Innoventions exit. Though we have come up with a couple of alternative plans such as...

First, FASTPASSes are accepted after the ending time (official policy), so so long as the starting time is 2 PM or earlier, then there is no problem...

As for those who decide not to get a FP, or show up at the park late, the group can split up into two parts after gathering, or if the group prefers, everyone can go in Stand-By line first, then those with valid FP's can ride a second time.....

SO let us know if you are thinking of attending, and which way we should handle this meet...

    A) Stand-By first, then a second time for those with FP's

    OR

    B) Split up into two groups (FP or Stand By) after gathering at 2 PM.

    THANKS!

The Lost Bar Happy Hour - Saturday, July 16th, 6:30 PM

Join us at the Lost Bar, which is located in the middle of the Disneyland Hotel central area.

The meet will start around 6 PM, but is designed to allow folks to show up late. I presume that the meet will last until 7:30 or 7:45 PM.

The Lost Bar is located next to the Jungle Cruise remote operated boats, and an arcade, so folks with children might be getting hit up for some tokens...

Here is a link to the menu...

    http://www.dlresortinfo.com/lostbar.html

The Lost Bar also offers free WiFi

The Bar area has a combination of indoor and outdoor tables. The indoor area is non smoking, but the outdoor area does allow smoking.

The meet is just a place to say hi to other internet folks, and chat.

Also, this meet is LOCALS friendly...

No need to have admission to the park

You get 5 hours of FREE Parking at Downtown Disney (The Lost Bar does validate).

    Hope to see you there!

If you are planning to stop by, could you be kkind enough to let us know here on this thread, so we can figure out an approximate count...

    THANKS!

The July 17th BD Celebration Meet - 1 PM, Plaza Gardens area

Well, the Disney online fans need a chance to gather and wish the Park a happy 50th (even if it didn't open to the public until July 18th!).

So here are the plans as of right now. If Disney schedules a special event that conflicts, then there is a chance that it might have to be moved.

1 PM to about 2:30 at the Plaza Gardens Stage area.

If no entertainment is scheduled, then we will meet under the tent. If there is a group or to performing, then we will meet at the tables just north of the stage area.

The Plaza Gardens Stage is marked on the Guide to the Magic, so it should be easy to find. It is also a large area, so should be easy to accomidate us. Lots of tables, chairs and umbrellas.

Of course, there will be some 50th decorations, and we will provide name badges for those who wish to wear one.

You will need to bring your own food and/or drink if you want any.

Should be a fun time as folks gather to wish the park a very happy 50th, hope to see you there!!!

For planning purposes, if you could let me know if you plan to attend, it would help out, just post the fact in this thread...

    THANKS!

The Real 50th BD meet - Monday, July 18th 1 PM

In celebration of the FIRST day that Disneyland was opened to the public, I am hosting a gathering on Monday July 18th.

(FYI, July 17th, 1955 was an "Invitational Press Preview", and no tickets were sold to the public. Heck, Walt and Lillian had a special event in early July at Disneyland.)

Disney honored the first guests entering the park on July 18th, 1955.

Heck, the opening of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was July 18th, 1966. (Walt knew the right day!)

So, I am going to throw a celebration on the CORRECT day!!!!

1 PM (til about 2 PM) at the Plaza Gardens Stage area...

Free Buttons that proclaim the fact that July 18th WAS the day!!!!

Come meet some other true Disney online fans!!!!

Once again, for planning purposes, please post below if you plan to attend... THANKS!!!!

    And it WAS!!!!

Hey, when do folks celebrate DCA's BD... (Well, they don't

But the plaque is February 8th, not January 16th, the date the park was opened for previews to invited guests (mainly AP holders and SoCal folks)

As mentioned earlier, Walt opened Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln on July 18th in honor of the park's 11th BD.

July 17th is the anniversary of the "Invitational Press Preview", and that wording is right off the Ticket printed for the event, and was not for sale to the public!

We are booked there, see you there. Interesting note about the opening and makes sense!!

    July 18th

    Darkbeer,

Thank you for setting everyone straight on the day DL opened.

For year's I told people DL opened on my birthday. So many told me that I was wrong that I just gave up and starting saying the day after.

Just when are we to sleep during July 15-18?

    And again I say...
J...J... Jello shots? I'm gonna miss Jello shots!?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    What is a Jello shot?
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Great for parties, you can pre make them, put them in their own disposable paper cups, and then just open up the trays where the party starts. Also helps to have some whipped cream to top the shot...

Ane they are YUMMY, which the guests love...
