    Is Disneyland a Historical Landmark??

Just wondering, having a long history in California, is Disneyland a registered landmark?

Nope. All of the registered historical landmarks in Orange County, California can be found here: http://ohp.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=21387

I don't believe it is... and I don't believe it should be. It is, in reality, an historical landmark... that is obvious, but from a legal standpoint, the restrictions on its further develpment would be stiffling if it were were so designated.

I don't believe it is an official landmark of our nation.

I am sure there are "restrictions" if you become a registered historical landmark, preventing "changes" to the landmark, therefore, it is the last thing Disney corporation would want to happen.

I don't know where it is registered but... The MainStreet Train Station at Disneyland is a historical landmark. That is why they don't need to alter it at all for wheelchair access. If this is an urban legend, someone correct me- it's been brought up before.

It should have been designated around 1995.

Then they should have made the Skyway a historical landmark, and we could have saved it!

But imagine if they made everything in Disneyland (from day one) a landmark...the park wouldn't have been able to survive. Skyway probably would never have made it in because nothing would be allowed to be altered or touched.

I like to think of Disneyland as more a living landmark.

It was after Indiana Jones but before things started to really decline.

You are right, it would be wrong!
Meanwhile Disney came up with a pretty clever way to overcome the Handicap rules with the Submarine ride, considering they are using all the original subs. The guided tour told me earlier this month, that they are installing a seperate room where a pretty hi-tec film will recreate what the sub riders are seeing, but in the room. I wonder if people will suddenly be struck by "claustrophobia" because the alternate viewing room just might be quicker and more enjoyable!

Enough with the skyway! It's gone. It isn't coming back. Just because something is old and you enjoy it doesn't mean it should be a historical landmark.
