    Disneyland Management

Does anybody know what the employee retention rates at other themeparks are?? We give disneyland management such a hard time but sometimes i wonder if its not just part of the theme park industry, the nature of the beast if you will. I know my dad owns the KFC's in our town and has a pretty low retention rate, but compared with other fast food restaurants hes right on track, if not better. Ive never seen this mentioned before and wondered if someone had the rates of universal or sixflags.

Even if they were right on track with say Six flags, I don't think it would matter considering how apparent understaffing can get at times.

The rentention rates are probably similar to other theme parks. But the difference is the high-standard Disney has set for itself. Just because all the other theme parks are wastelands doesn't mean Disneyland has to be one.

Disneyland is neither a fast food join nor the local coaster park.

I totally agree with you spokker, and as much as i or anybody here would like to think they are above the industry, they're not.......its a wonderful place to visit and they do an awesome job, but they still deal with the same issues that every other amusement park property deals with.

    Re: Disneyland Management

They might deal with issues like other amusment parks deal with but heres the thing. Disney USED to pride themselves on being completely different in all of their lines of business. From Feature Animation to Theme Parks & Mega Resorts.

Disney was above the industries they provided service and entertainment for, thats what made them different and far superior to everyone else. As of late though instead of all these other parks and resorts "Catching up" to Disney it seems as if Disney just took a few steps backwards to be like everyone else.

The turn-over rates at Disney are looked down upon because working for them USED to be a hard thing to accomplish. The service USED to be not only good, heck not even great, it was OUTSTANDING. This along with a great collection of storytelling tools is the reason Disney became what it did.

Can't compare DL turnover to other parks.
There's over a 51 history you can look at
with DL alone. I'm sure someone here has
    those numbers.

So many other parks nationwide are just
seasonal ~ even Magic Mt is closed a
good portion of the winter months. That
alone would drive up turnover. Other
    parks are considerably smaller with
smaller staffs than DL, and operate a lot
differently than DL. So it is best to
compare DL to it's own performance in
    previous years.

Not sure about other theme parks but I know the turnover rate is pretty high here at Cingular...now the new AT&T. End of 2006 our turnover rate was 97%.....and we start our employees at 12.00 per hour with full benefits and full time and lots of paid time off. We are located in Anaheim also.
