I was very sad when I went back and his voice had been removed.
    Lucky indeed.

It's funny how the first three Mansions (but not Tokyo) all had original features that were removed so quickly that they have become legendary, even to the point that their very existence has sometimes been denied. With DL it's the Hatbox Ghost, with WDW it's the Spider Web Man (see http://ghostrelationsdept.blogspot.c...1_archive.html ), and with PM it's the Price narration, which is falsely said never to have been actually used, in the liner notes for the Disney HM souvenir CD.

Come, I have more beauty to show you. Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you gaze upon the sweet innocence of youth. Ah but things are not always as they seem. Can it be this room is actually stretching? And notice this... this chamber has no windows and no doors, which offers you this chilling challenge... Only you can return the demons to the chest... because you let them out..The 13 ghosts of Walt Disney!!!

Awesome Almandot, where's the Scooby Snacks and did you toss Scrappy out of the Mystery Machine?

I love the Haunted Mansions in the U.S. but consider Phantom Manor to be a masterpiece.

Oh yeah, and Phantom Manor is the only version of this attraction so far where you actually enter the house through the front door.

EDIT: One detail I loved about Phantom Manor was the seance scene...as I recall, the seance room was surrounded by these windows, large windows, with the curtains open, and you see outside the windows this weird, eerie looking scene like a sunset with clouds, but ominous...I went in April 1999 so it's been eight years next month since I've been there!

Re: Haunted Mansion or Phantom Manor?

Regarding the back story and video:

And that my friends is why I consider Phantom Manor to be THE greatest Disney attraction ever imagineered. It effected us so much, my wife Sarah and I dressed up as Melanie and the Phantom at the first ever DLP Christmas party and got to waltz in the Grand Stairway as people boarded. Such great memories!

BTW - I was lucky enough to hear the original Vincent Price voiceover when we were there for the opening. Oh, how I miss it!
Let's put the Walt back in Disney!
