OH I know that they used to do 4 parades a day.
I'm just saying that with everyone already complaining about the length of POD, that it would be even more complaining if they stuck two more parades at night. Hwoever, I also think this is the best way to go because it would keep my beloved Christmas Fantasy in disneyland!!

I agree with Tigger001 that the logistics are throwing everyone off and we are forgetting the matter at hand. At this point, I don't really care how they do it as long as they keep the Christmas Parade in Disneyland. It is probably a given that POD is not going to go down for the Holiday season, so they need to figure out something with running both parades in Disneyland. I am getting exhausted repeating myself, so I am not going to say what I have already said many times before in this thread.

Funny thing is, people and whatnot are complaining and saying that the park gets crowded as it is with two parade showings a day.

What about the days when Disneyland used to have 2 parades in the afternoon, and 2 in the evening. 2 different parades all together, 4 performances.
Is this all of a sudden impossible?

come on now. I miss those days.

It's nice to hear from someone who remembers. I miss the old days too when there was entertainment galore all over the place!! The last time I remember 4 parades being done daily was in 1997 with 2 day performances of the Hercules parade & 2 performances nightly of Light Magic. The following year, the Mulan parade premiered and it was goodbye to a different parade at day and a different one at night. It has been that way ever since. I remember 1995 & 96 as being incredible for entertainment. You had 2 day performances of the Lion King Parade, 2 night performances of the Main Street Electrical Parade, 2 performances (sometimes 3) of Fantasmic, and both the Pocahontas & Hunchback Festival of Fools shows were running simultaneously daily as well as all the atmosphere entertainment. I miss those days!!! During the Holidays it has always been basically just the Christmas Parade as the one parade presented, but with the inevitible extension of Parade of Dreams, there is no reason why they cannot run both in the same park. Give DCA its own entertainment and leave Disneyland's to Disneyland.

I am really glad to see so many people agreeing with me on this topic. It seems the overall concensis is to leave the parade where it's at. I hope the folks at TDA also get this as well, and realize that this would be a hug mistake. Thank you to everyone who posted their thoughts.
I too miss all of the different entertainment offerings at the park as well. Those were the glory days and I hope that Matt does continue to make the changes that he is.

I'm not saying the parks get crowded I'm pointing out that there is already so much to see at night that adding a whole Nighttime parade thing makes it pretty tough on tourists

I'm finding it hard to believe that your average tourist could manage to see Fantasmic, Fireworks and Rocket Mountain AND still manage to fit in a nightime parade on top of all of that (considering at this point they're probably only in the Sub Lagoon area of Disneyland) tourists don't always have the well oiled system of running around that hardcorefans/APers do

this isn't just a single park anymore it's a resort and that means it needs to balance out it's offerings and expand out to give people many things to see across multiple days

Disneyland is bleeding out da ears with special nightime offerings why does it need another nightime parade ontop of it?

I think two nightime offerings as far as entertainment goes is great for both parks (adding this onto different rides which also transform at night or will soon begin to do such) for me Fantasmic replaced the other nighttime entertainment offering at Disneyland

same goes for Christmas spreading out offerings is better for your visiting tourist who can see special Christmass offerings both days and not miss out on all the special birthday offerings as well ((maybe people who have birthdays durring Christmass will understand this better :P/))

if it's temporary only I'll still say it's fine by me (just as long as they go further with decorating DCA then they did last year)

Just to be devil's advocate, wouldn't the Disneyland Resort WANT to have bunches of nighttime entertainment choices so that they can push the 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 6 day park hoppers? I think so! Just thinking along the lines of an Economist. hehe.

As both a free spirit and a craver of tradition, my heartstrings are really being tugged over this one. Disguy has an interesting idea. I admire his bravery in the face of an overwhelming opposition.

There is a possibility that Disney will create some sort of a Christmas motif for the Parade of Dreams. Such an overlay might be the begining of a dazzling and warm new tradition for Disneyland. Any parade not in keeping with the holiday spirit will fall flat on it's face, regardless of it's magnitude and splendor. There might be collateral damage to Disneyland as well. Word is that the "snowflakes" are being moved to DCA along with the Christmas Parade.

I like your idea a lot, Disguy (defiant as it is) - and I would buy into it. BUT, ONLY IF Disneyland offers PoD (w/holiday motif), and snowflakes are included at both gates. It would be awesome to have two holiday parades, and to actually have a good viewing area for the original Christmas Parade for a change.

Another outstanding enlightenment. You're quite the macro-micro economist extraordinaire, GeneralShang.

My husband proposed to me under the "snow" right by the Christmas Tree JUST after BELIEVE ended on December 28, 2001. We have always thought of it as our mitsvah that we could have such a touching engagement, and ALWAYS go back - even flying in for just the 28th- to ..well... just renew our marriage.

It's soo soo special, I would not know what to do if they move it to DCA........
