Mist effect on Pirates of the Caribbean?

A question for you DL buffs out there:

Is there a mist effect on POTC in the tunnel right before the battle scene? There was mist on our 2001 visit, but it was gone in '03. We really liked it, it made for a cool "going back in time" transition kind of thing. Can anybody tell me if it's back? And if not, why the heck not!?!?
    Thank you!

    It's not there.
And I'm glad... I wear glasses so mist is bad
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The mist is no longer in the tunnel like it was but the battle scene has a more subdued fog effect now. At times it seems stronger then others.

I think the mist was an incredibly effective transition and really should have stayed. Maybe it'll come back in the upcoming downtime. I too wear glasses but I didn't back when they had the effect so I really don't know what that's like. I'll take your word for it though.

The only mist I can think of is the mist that comes out of the pirates' guns. And why would you be "going back in time"? That doesn't make any sense.

Isn't there fog on the water sometimes?
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

On pirates, you don't "go back in time" so much as you "go back in fantasy." And the fog in the tunnel hasn't been there for a while, but they did a really good job updating the water effcts in the battle scenes. When the cannon balls land, they LAND. It's nice.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you meant the battle between the drunk pirates before the lift hill. :o

I did mean the tunnel before the big battle scene with the ship and the fortress. There used to be mist there, and it was a transition point between the present (where all that remains of the pirates are bones and treasure) and the past (where the pirates are alive and running amok!). All clear?

The mist was a cool effect, but I can see how it could cause problems with glasses and camcorders.

I don't think disneyland attractions are made to cater to camcorders' needs.

Not only did the mist fog my glasses, but the hiss distracted from my enjoyment of the ride. I much prefere the low hanging and silent mist they have now, but wouldn't mind a bit more near the cave exit.

That mist effect is called "Me-fogg". - it's also used at the base of Splash when you hit the Briar Patch.

Basically it's the result of when you squeeze water through a needle-thin point against a flat point which breaks up the atoms & causes the misty effect.. It's a pretty cool effect.

I know there is fog around the back of the ship. It's possible that it just drifted into the "dead me tell no tales" tunnel?

Ah.... that helps to understand the storyline. Though I'd say the tunnel does a good effect.
But then, when do you go back in the present? Are the skelatons on the way up the final lift supposed to bring you back to the present?
Interesting. i've never thought of it that way before.
(and no, I haven't seen much of the movie.)
