Golden Horseshoe Saloon

I'm going to Disneyland for the very first time on 9/21-9/25 and so, I will probably ask a bunch of questions like this one. Since I will be a newbie to Disneyland compare to WDW.

Today: I would like to learn about the Golden Horseshoe Saloon. Can someone tell me the story about the Golden Horseshoe? How are there prices for their food?

The prices are average for park food counter top service. I don't recall the actual $ amounts but it never broke my wallet taking my family of 4 there. They have fish and chips, chicken fingers, chillie fries ect. The big draw is the show, "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies." They are great. The show is so funny and full of fun music and great antics. I recommend it.

Awesome. What are times when the "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies" show plays?

Re: Golden Horseshoe Saloon

Currently their shows are 11:15am 1:00pm 2:35pm 4:00pm 5:15pm.

I don't know if those times will change before September, the Disney calendar only goes to July right now.

If you want to check times for any show you can go to www.disneyland.com and click on "calendar" and it will bring up the calendar with times of park openings and closings, and lots of other useful information.

This is one site that shows menus and semi current prices of the resort.

Re: Golden Horseshoe Saloon

Let me second what a great show "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies" put on. It's one of the real hidden treasures of the park. I would suggest to see the 1:00pm or 2:35pm show so that you can rest your feet (That is if you have been running around all morning).

The Hillbillies show is okay, it's more on the quality level of streetmosphere than the other fantastic Golden Horseshoe shows that have unfortunately come and gone.

The Golden Horseshoe Jamboree, or even better the Golden Horseshoe Revue, was 10 times the entertainment value of the current show. The Hillbilly show is a funny show, but it's just not on the level of previous Golden Horseshoe quality.

Re: Golden Horseshoe Saloon

I remember when i was planning my first trip to Disneyland. I had a lot of questions about everything at Disneyland.

MiceChatters are always so helpful. I printed out a lot of stuff. I was so prepared to have a great time.

....and of course i did.

Re: Golden Horseshoe Saloon

I know when I went there recently I got the Fish & Chips and a soda and it was probably around $10. If you want a huge piece of chocolate cake that is the place to get it, trust me.

Thank you. Yeah, that doesn't really sound all that bad.

Just make sure you go, that you don't miss the Elvis' Billie play... he's wonderful...

Him and my dreamboat
he plays Star Wars on command... pretty much can play anything on command if he knows the song.... *swoon*

Re: Golden Horseshoe Saloon

I'm still smiling at the webpage that Druggas showed. Laughing at about all there names are Billy. Especially at "Billy Elvis"; I'm interested in knowing what he sounds like.

Re: Golden Horseshoe Saloon

I wrote an article on The Golden Horseshoe at the Re-Imagineering blog:

http://imagineerebirth.blogspot.com/...isneyland.html

Quote (much more at link):

>>The spicy, sexy (but totally wholesome) doings at The Golden Horseshoe helped to make Disneyland an experience for the entire family, not just the parents and tots of today’s targeting. After all, Disneyland’s charms can naturally lean a bit too heavily toward Mom, Princess, Kitten and Uncle Arthur, rather than to Dad and Bud.

But The Golden Horseshoe’s shapely Can-Can girls, along with the hula dancers at Tahitian Terrace and the go-go girls of Tomorrowland… and those crop spanking Disneyland ambassadors… provided some eye candy and entertainment that men’s men of all ages could appreciate with a wink and a smile to their wives and girlfriends (and significant others).

What’s so wrong with that? Sex appeal is a whole level of the Disneyland dream that has vanished over time - - and perhaps not coincidentally, those demos have grown weaker.

Again, old Walt knew what he was doing.<<
