Be The Imagineer: Design The Ride

So, this isn't a real contest or anything. It's just a fun thread to share your Disneyland ride ideas. I have a few, but I won't share mine until a few others post.

Off topic: What's with everyone on the Internuts starting every post with "So..." these days?

    On topic:
How about a ride with giant teacups that spin... no wait..
A ride through Pooh's 100 Acre Woo... no no...

A while ago I had an idea for a new ride system in Toon Town...
    Toonlines Daytrip
A short bus excursion through the "real" Toon Town you see in the Who Framed Rodger Rabbit movie.

Guests board a toon themed school bus style vehicle after walking through a toon themed bus depot queue. Similar to the Rodger ride the queue has interactive portions.

Once loaded the bus exits the depot and onto a short road scene, heading for a large pitch black tunnel in a brick wall (as in the movie). Upon entering the tunnel the ride vehicle sits atop a motion simulator. During the blackness screens are lowered around the bus and a 2D toon world is projected all around the guests. After the show the bus goes through the transition sequence again and returns to the depot.
    Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

I would love a LOTR ride someday. Sadly, I doubt it will ever happen.

That isn't a Diseny property. I guess you want them to make a deal for the rights.

Re: Be The Imagineer: Design The Ride

I have posted this on sooo many other post and no one will respond to it so will you all please, please respond to my idea.

The name of the ride is Spaceport Expedition. It will be in Tomorrowland and will be a ride where you visit a Spaceport that is being attacked by aliens. It will be similiar to Haunted Mansion but you will not board doom buggies. The ride will be a hit I think because it is a ride that is not based off of a movie. A ride like that is long overdue at DL. If you think there is no room for a ride of this size, then you are wrong. There is room behind Space Mountain. You could start the ride in TL and then have it go around space mountain to its showbuilding behind it. Kinda like Pirates and the train. So, what do ya think???

Thats a good idea incept that will it be the good Toontown like at the end of the movie or the kinda messed up looking one half-way through the movie.

Re: Be The Imagineer: Design The Ride

How could you make a ride based on LOTR anyways?
Anything would be out of place.

But onto topic, I say, some sort of attraction based on Kingdom Hearts. The show building queue should be based of Hallow Bastion before Ansem (not Xemnas :P) and his followers reclaimed it (kind of how in KH 1) and it could also be some sort of motion simulator, but that would lack in a real true 'feel' of being there. Maybe a fast moving dark ride where you encounter the heartless and see Sora, Donald, and Goofy making their way to seal the final keyhole and defeating Xemnas - maybe it could be a ride that appears you start on the ground and then appears to be floating above the action.

Seeing AAs of Shadows, and Defenders, or even the Darkside heartless...AAs of Sora and gang as well. Projections could be use to display spells and other things...could be also good to promote the movie and/or anime that is being produced based off the manga...

Re: Be The Imagineer: Design The Ride

Ho boy, where do I even start?

    THE ROCKETEER ADVENTURE
Being a fan of the film, I've always wanted a roller coaster that allowed you to fly like the Rocketeer. Now with coaster technology, it's actually DOABLE (see tatsu at six flags, and stealth up in norcal).

The vehicles: Sit in a chair with shoulder restraints in a row of four. Maybe sixteen people per vehicle. The seats then lie backwards as you are now parallel with the track (on your back). The backs of the train behind you resemble the rocket packs. Speakers are on each seat for some onboard sound effects (the sound of the jet pack, etc)

The queue: Wandering through the airplane hangar, you read on newspaper clippings that the Rocketeer is back (the rocket pack was destroyed in the film) framed on the wall. You also hear some popular tunes from a jukebox nearby. A plane belonging to Cliff Secord is just around the corner.

As you near the load station, you hear a radio news flash report that the gangster thugs are at it again, stealing millions worth in jewels (or whatever). They're calling for the Rocketeer for immediate help.

The ride: The ride begins as you travel (on your back) around the corner. You go up a lift track and stop when you're completely perpendicular to the ground (standing straight up). An animatronic of your pal Peabody (alan arkin) gives you a funny or serious comment (different everytime). "you look like a hood ornament"

At that point you launch straight up (like the maliboomer) and continue on your journey through the clouds as your vehicle eventually turns towards the ground as you fly like the rocketeer on a thrilling coaster journey.

You fly through 40's hollywood between buildings, chasing cars, and witness thugs firing at you with dazzling visual effects and sound. The bullets seem to miss you as you fly by. Eventually the chase comes to an end and the finale shows the thugs being cuffed by the cops.

You saved the day! Another radio report can be heard as you exit, detailing the daring and courageous adventure that you just experienced. Purchase your picture from the ride, resembling the front page of a newspaper with the headline "rocketeer saves day" or something like that.

This is something I would have liked to have seen in Condor Flats or in a Hollywood District area.

    Turn Toon Town into:

    Sherman and Sherman Land!
    For Disney Musicals!

    The Happiest Millionaire
    Mary Poppins
The Super Great Family Band Musical
    Bednobs and Brooksticks
    Any Others?

Let's celebrate DISNEY MUSICALS instead of that wierd rabbit!

    Did I just say that?

Re: Be The Imagineer: Design The Ride

Well pretty much anything that isn't pixar won't become an attraction..

Maybe if the movie or thing wasn't too obscure it would be considered by Disney.

It's the germ of an idea. Sounds good, but I'd like more details. You say what it's not: "It will be similar to Haunted Mansion but you will not board doom buggies." So will it be omnimover based or not?

The room behind Space Mountain is limited as it's all backstage support buildings You could possibly build it as a second level on top of the backstage areas, but it would probably be too high.

I imagined it would be set after the movie, so business as usual Toon Town. Crazy, bizarre, a little dangerous for mortals... It'd need a story developed to take it to the next stage. So far I've only imagineered the ride system and theme.

I'm seeing this working in Tokyo Disney

Best idea yet. This would make a great dark ride / coaster combination, something like the one in Europa Park (Germany). It's a sit in suspended coaster that flies through a house set. Because the walls seem so close it feels VERY fast and frantic

Sounds good to me. But more suited for HPB or the Disney-MGM Studios in WDW.

It will be onmimover based. I don't really have a lot of ideas for the ride and how it would work. In the q you discover that you have just boarded a spaceport that is about to launch into space. In the preshow you go into a room that start to shake and a announcer tells you that you have just arrived in space. Then you go through a board your Spaceport tour vehicle. After that I really don't know what I wont the ride to be like. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I remember thinking this sounds like BLAB. Plus that backstage area really needs to be there for the parade turnaround and other stuff.

Always loved this idea! Hehe, hood ornament I think if the new "Carland" was more of a generic CA adventure through the desert, The Rocketeer can fit more themeatically here.
