My only guess is Arte Moreno(owner of angels) had something to do with this one.

Does anyone know if the wheelchair rental still outside the park and in the entrance plaza, and if it will be this weekend?

It was out in the Main Entrance Plaza yesterday, and I presume it will be up this weekend.

Signage is placed at the Tram Loading Areas and at the Security checks if they are using the tents, and of course, the tents are very visible in the North East corner of the Main Entrance Plaza.

Is it going to come down before Summer? I know that the park is going to remain pretty crowded from this point on, but is it crowded enough to keep the rental tents up?

My guess, they will go down for most of May, this will alllow them to use the area for the Movie Premiere, and then put them back up for Memorial Day weekend and the rest of the summer.

As I understand it, they are "temporary structures" and city codes require they only be up a certain amount of days during the year.

Those aren't the ties, per se--they're called "tie plates." They're made of metal, and spread the load as the trains pass over them across a wider swath of wood. They also help to keep the rails "in gauge" (the precise distance between the two inside edges of the rails).

They are obviously custom cast, in much the same way the wheels of some of the cars and locomotives say "Disneyland RR."

My guess is, tie plates for this size rail aren't too common any more, and new ones had to be cast by Sharp & Fellows (the contractor that re-did the track). As long as they were, it was probably simple enough to add the lettering.

I'll ask around to be sure, though.
