Chance for a Little Mermaid Attraction coming to Disneyland?

With the debut of The Little Mermaid Broadway Production beginning in Denver, CO and eventually moving to NYC this Fall, I was wondering if that could mean there's hope that Disneyland will finally install The Little Mermaid attraction that is shown on the DVD that came out last year?

If the show does really well, like it did for Beauty and the Beast & Lion King, then I would HOPE the LM attraction would be a green light for the Resort!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...

Side note...I'm going to see the Broadway production of the LM in Denver with my partner and a few friends. It sounds like it will be beautiful and an absolutely wonderful production! And since the LM is my favorite Disney Princess, I just have to see this show!

I doubt it but we can all wish...
In my opinion i'm fine without that ride from the dvd.
I see alot of flaws with the ride system.

Re: Little Mermaid Attraction Coming To Disneyland...

We can hope, but I don't know. I've heard that "big things" are planned for the old Motorboat Cruise area, and many argue that this would be the perfect spot for a LM attraction, but idk.

It's odd that Disney refuses to capitalize on attractions from their Disney renaissance age.

If "big things" are being planned for the motorboat area, I'd hardly complain about a Little Mermaid dark ride not going in instead.

The motorboat cruise area has been drained for the subs evac path. Yes? So how could they put a ride there?

That's only a small section of the whole of the Motorboat lagoon area. There's still room to build something without it affecting the subs.

I won't believe that they're going to do anything with the spot until Al says something...if we do get anything special there, it's not going to be anytime soon. DCA needs TLC. So does TL...more immediately the old PeopleMover track.

thrax, who says they would make a carbon copy of what was developed on the dvd? That attraction was developed for Disneyland Paris. With space and destination, obviously changes must be made for accomodation. And whose to say that an attraction placed in the old Motorboat lagoon would have to be a boat ride? The water could easily be removed in favor of a different ride design. Who knows.

Yeah, because they sure rushed those Beauty and the Beast and Lion King rides when they were hits on Broadway.

In a word ... no.

Doubt it.

I can only imagine a maze or a new MBC in the MBC area. Especially now that we know there's supposed to be a Sub emergency exit in the area.

Re: Chance for a Little Mermaid Attraction coming to Disneyland?

Yeah, I would love to see a Little Mermaid Dark ride built.
In fact as Sir Clinky pointed out *sarcastically????*
There are several other Animated features that deserve
dark rides.

It's really beyond comprehension HOW could they NOT
consider this for a WHOLE area when they built that
"Thing" in the parking lot. WHY ON EARTH didn't it
include a "New Fantasyland" filled with dark rides!

Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, Hercules (imaging riding
Pegasus). Lion King (which has zero presence in DL)
Mulan, Do the Beauty and the Beast style attraction
that was to have been built in Paris DL. How about
some sort of trippy 101 Dalmation dark ride!

This.

Also, I don't think they'd put that ride-through on the DVD if they'd planned on actually building it. If they ever do a Little Mermaid attraction, it'll probably be something completely new.

Oooh, I like the idea for 101 dalmations ride. Imagine Cruella chasing you in her car with that crazy look in her eyes and nearly crashing into you. Scary!

Re: Chance for a Little Mermaid Attraction coming to Disneyland?

You know a little Mermaid ride in the MBC area dosen't sound bad, I think I can come up with something. Maybe have a water wall effect(like moses) and going through them like a maze by boat, going up and down, woth props and maybe even the same technology used in Nemo. Sound cool to me.
