"Marching into April" - Barbaraann's Photo Collage Trip Report

The first picture is of a puzzle I made for my grandson's 14th birthday. It announced to Sean that we were going to the Disneyland Resort. Our trip was from the last day of March until the 4th of April, hence then name "Marching into April".





The theme for our vacation has been "Destination Disneyland". The photo above is the t-shirt that I designed for the 3 of us to wear to Disneyland. The three of us are: My grandson, Sean, his mom Kathy, and me, Barbaraann.





We live in Chicago. Usually we fly into LAX. This time we flew into John Wayne Airport. It was a very pleasant trip.





When we arrived at our hotel in Anaheim, our room was not ready. The taxi from the John Wayne Airport, in Orange County was very efficient. We left our luggage at the hotel, and headed for Disneyland. We made one stop along the way, and that was for some food at Denny's.





Sean's mom, her name is Kathy, has never been to Disneyland before. I gave Sean my camera, told him to go first, and he took the photo here of his mother and I. That would be Kathy's "first time" at Disneyland.

Wow, what a WONDERFUL grandma you are! I hope you had a great trip.

Our first stop was City Hall. Sean's birthday was on March the 25th. This was only 6 days later, so we decided a "birthday button" was in order. We actually got a birthday sticker instead.





After our stop at City Hall, we rode the train around the park. What do you suppose a 14 year old does while riding the train at Disneyland. He plays his Nintendo DS. Mom and I were busy taking a lot of pictures.

We spent a little time just looking around Town Square. I especially wanted to get a photo of the plaque that had the message that Walt Disney delivered to everyone on July 17, 1955.

There's a lot to see while going down Main Street for the first time. Hey, there's a lot to see no matter how many times you go down Main Street. I always like to take a picture of the clock, and have my picture taken under it. Sean usually does the honors.

We stopped at the Hub for the usual photos, and had this picture taken by the Photo Pass Photographer. Kathy requested the presence of "Special Guest, Tinker Bell." She was happy to oblige.

Kathy is a big fan of the dwarf, "Grumpy". So it was off to Snow White's Grotto for us. Kathy took almost all of the above photos. I was glad she got the "jumping fish".





Because I am such a big fan of Jiminy Cricket, I was disappointed that he was not in the after noon Parade of Dreams.

It really was as crowded as everyone was saying before I left for my trip. It was now after 4 o'clock, and we had a 7 o'clock reservation for Goofy's Kitchen, so we decided it was time to go back to our hotel, and officially check in.

We went back to our hotel, the Candy Cane Inn. I really liked it there. It was close enough to walk. They had their own bus. I got a good rate using my AAA card. They had a really good complimentary breakfast each morning.




We took our hotel bus back to the Disneyland Resort, walked through Downtown Disney and headed for the Disneyland Hotel. That is where "Goofy's Kitchen" is located.





Goofy's Kitchen is a really fun place to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good, and Sean got sung to. The characters were a lot of fun. I had them sign my hat, and Sean had them sign his autograph book.





Sean wanted to take the Monorail back to Disneyland after his special birthday dinner. We had plans to see the fireworks. Our very first day at Disneyland was truly a day to "Remember".
