I don't know how many miles, it's not too far, is Katella Deli in Los Alamitos. It is on Katella, obviously, so it is easy to find. Just head west on Katella. It is in Los Alamitos near the racetrack.

Also Joe's Crab Shack is good. If you want to go about 20 minutes south the Newport Beach location is much nicer as it sits right on Newport Harbor.

2 Really great restaurants are The Catch and Mr Stox.
The Catch is a mid-high $$ place directly across from Angels Stadium on St. College between Katella and Orangewood. Really excellent steaks and fish and a great place to catch an Angels game.
If you're coming from DL, Mr. Stox is just before St. College on Katella. This is a restaurant along the lines of Steakhouse 55 (formerly Granville's). You'll pony up some dough but the food is great (especially the steaks, risotto, and you HAVE to have the chocolate gateau for dessert. AMAZING!).
All I needed to know in life, I learned at MiceChat.

And speaking of restaurants near Angel Stadium don't forget Hooters. If the Angels score 10 or more runs during a home game they give out free wings! If you have kids maybe you might want to skip that, but it might be worth it if you happen to be there during this rare event! LOL

    Zankou Chicken on Ball Rd
Three-time MVP Larry Bird, noting that Bryant has been the NBA's premier player for years, told Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick before this week's announcement, "When someone told me the other day that Kobe hadn't won an MVP trophy, it sort of made me feel like I wanted to throw mine away."

This is more than 5 miles, but if you like gourmet food and don't want to spend alot of money, try Cafe Hiro. Really great food and service.

If you're looking for fine dining and a really special experience, try the Anaheim White House. It's a very formal kind of place, where they place your napkin on your lap for you and all that sort of thing. The food is amazing, and the service is great. And it isn't any more expensive than any other fine dining type establishment. And they have complimentary limo service that will pick you up and take you back to your hotel if you're staying nearby.

I agree with Posts 32 and 38. For fine dining and terrific wine lists you can't beat Mr. Stox or The White House. Great service, ambience and food.

The Creme Brulee and Maryland Crab Cakes at Stox are especially good!

Mr Stox has the best lobster bisque I've ever had as well.

And...Mr. Stox also has a private dining room adjacent to the wine cellar that was created by a Disneyland Designer. They are usually happy to show it to you if it isn't occupied.

If you like lobster bisque you should try the lobster bisque served at Scott's Seafood accross the street in South Coast Plaza, near the Performing Arts Center. Now that is the best.

    Excellent sopapillas.
Do they have real sopapillas? I haven't had a real one in forever! In Oregon it is just a flour tortilla fried and topped with cinnamon or jam

When we met my dad at Disneyland one year they ventured off for the day to some museum/mini themepark and ate at a chicken pot pie place. Three years later my dad still talks about it! He said it was nothing special on the outside but the food was great and prices reasonable. Someday when I'm down there I will figure out where it is.
