Cool Idea for a New Attraction at Paradise Pier!

After visiting another theme park, I got an idea for Paradise Pier. We need more Classic Disney characters at DCA and so I thought, why don't we have the classic swinging Pirate Ship Ride, themed to Captain Hooks Pirate Ship. That way we can have a classic boardwalk attraction with a new Disney twist. Sort of like the old Chicken of the Sea Pirate ship.

i like it! i love those kinds of rides and you are right, adding a disney character twist to it would be perfect

one question...where in PP would you put it? between orange stinger and golden zephyr perhaps?

Would a pirate ship fit into the atmosphere of Paradise Pier? Where would you place it?
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

    Yeah, that's what DCA needs.
    ANOTHER off the shelf ride.

    What next, a Tilt-A-Whirl or a Scrambler?

Gimme an honest to goodness, full on Disney E-Ticket (or at least a decent C/D-Ticket.)
But PLEASE ... not ANOTHER attraction I can ride at almost any County Fair or lesser amusement park in the country.

It could replace Burger Invasion with its own lagoon and dining location just like it had in Fantasyland. Or it could replace Orange Stinger or Jumpin Jellyfish since both are slated to be removed.

Perfect. Just what DCA and Paradise Pier needs; some more watered down, found-in-every-theme-park, off-the-shelf attractions, then we "theme" it to a Disney character, and away we go...

I hear the repeated rumors that Magic Mountain may be razed; seems that it is more economically viable to get property taxes from developing the acreage for new high-end homes than it is as an amusement park... Let's see; DCA already has their old "White Water Raft Ride", and several of their 20-year-old plus carnival attractions (although 'we' call 'em "Mulhulland Madness" or "Orange Stinger", etc.), but maybe we can still get some good deals on the hackneyed old attractions, put some Disney-licensed character stickers on them, and Paradise Pier can continue to look like every other amusement park in existance... "Captain Hook's Swingin' Pirate Ship!", "The Little Mermaid Flume Ride", "Timon-A-Whirl", "The Spinning Barrel of Abu" - oh, it just sounds grand, doesn't it?!

Sorry; I'm from the Generation when Disney 'imagineered' first class, never-before-seen, themed attractions that the other theme parks envied, emulated, and copied - NOT the other way around.

I would normally agree with you, and I certainly don't want a swinging ship or anything with a Disney character slapped onto it. But, I can see a clamshell Tilt-A-Whirl fitting in the East helix of California Screamin'. Adding capacity there would let Disney close attractions like Orange Stinger and Mulholland Madness that don't fit at all and really do feel antithetical to Disney.

Re: Idea for a New Attraction at Paradise Pier!

The whole "Paradise Pier" area was a cheap cop out by Michael Eisner, Paul Pressler and Barry Braverman. And it's the exact antithesis of what Walk Disney was trying to do with Disneyland. It should be called "Pathetic Pier" and should be completely razed. Unfortunately, with Midway Mania coming, it's staying and we have to live with it.

DCA is a gimp park and always will be. Might as well name it Quasimodo Adventure, because that is what it is.....deformed for life.
