04.15.07 -- Storytellers Cafe / River Belle Terrace Review & a NeverNeverland Bday!

    This is NeverNeverland:

And Sunday was her little Birthday shindig at Disneyland! Since we started the morning with a Storytellers Cafe Breakfast, I thought I'd turn this into a trip report / review of the breakfast too.

For those who don't already know, Storytellers Cafe is located at the Grand Californian Hotel. Walk-ins are occasionally welcome but it's better to give Disney Dining a Call for reservations 714-781-3463 (put it on your cellphone already!)

    Here comes the bday girl!

Here's NeverNeverland w/ her friend Sarah. I forgot her MC handle name.

NeverNeverland's REAL LIFE friend Sierra (sp?), who hasn't been to Disneyland in TEN years!

VillainsFan joined us and look! PrincessButtercup suprised NeverNeverland!

Borneo Goes Bananas also wishes NeverNeverland a happy birthday!

And haha... I didn't happen to get a photo of me or Mousercise (sorry!) so just pretend that we're present for all of the festivities.

STORYTELLERS CAFE is one of my favorite restaurants in the Disneyland Resort. It's one of those places with options! A regular menu with good selection as well as a fairly extensive buffet.

This is my first visit during breakfast hours though! A look at the menu didn't take long for me to just go with the buffet for $21.99. Reason being is that there wasn't a whole lot of other choices that were unique. Except for maybe specialty omlettes ($16 price range), pancakes, and steak ($21.99). Everything else you can get at the buffet.

^^That's a sample of what the buffet offers minus the scrambled eggs and pastries.

On and there's also these little babies:

Mickey Mouse waffles made to order! These are YUMMY. You can also get pancakes but none of us ordered it.

What's also good about the buffet is that drinks are included! Coffee, OJ, Diet Coke.. you name it.

Breakfast at Storyteller's also includes a little more 'character' than usual!

RAWR! Koda attacks these boys in a booth.

After having a buffet of his own, he comes to our table.

Rosie O'Donnell is also around. Ugh, I can't even look at her cartoon character without getting sick. Oh Waiter! There's an annoying gorilla in my food!

    ^Get off the phone!

    I MEAN IT!

    Hey look, it's KENAI!

^^ NeverNeverland says you have a small totem.

RAWR!!! WHAT DID YOU SAY??!!!! KAPOW!

They bear hug and make up though.

    Meeko!

Happy Birthday to the song of Zipadeedoodah!

The waiters brought over a small treat:

A crown fit for a birthday girl:

    And that was Storyteller's!

So what did I think of the food? Meh.... I wasn't that impressed. Maybe because I love their dinner buffet so much more, but I thought the food was very bland. The waffles though were delicious and the fruit offered is a lot fresher, more varied, and sweeter than most buffets, so that's certainly a plus. There's also an omlette station for you egg fans (not me) so that would also add to the value. So for $21.99, this all you can eat is probably a pretty good value. And don't forget the AP discount!

And there's also the super cool side entrance into DCA that never has a line...

    It looks like an asteroid!!

Re: 04.15.07 -- Storytellers Cafe / River Belle Terrace Review & a NeverNeverland Bda

So after a hop skip and a jump through DCA, we hit up the Happiest Place on Earth.

    Happiest Birthday on Earth!

After we grabbed some fast passes for Space Mountain and watched the Jedi Training Academy, where the main Jedi Master's every other word was "WELL DONE!" , we headed to the meet!

    Superstacie has the coolest backpack!

Norm was happy to see me...

    I think.

Then we ditched the group at noon to continue on the BirthDAY. Since we all just finished eating, lunch at the French Market just seemed all too soon.

We decided to hit up Casey Jr!

Oh and I take it back. THIS guy had the coolest backpack (sorry, superstacie)

We were a bunch of monkeys and wild animals we was!

^Mat Hamand and family were also having fun with the birthday crowd.

Whatever birthday girl wants, we do. So Big Thunder was next.

No, Borneo, no! Don't go into the light!

    I can't help it, it's so beautiful....

A few more rides and a Rasberry Chocolate Chip Cookie later, we bump into some more familiar faces.

And now it's time for the RIVER BELLE TERRACE quickie review! I didn't think I was going to make a full on report for this eatery so I didn't take a lot of pictures, but I thought I'd write a bit on it anyway.

Ok so... I never eaten here! Maybe once a long time ago but I absolutely don't remember it. Maybe I got a Fantasmic! to-go meal back in the day. Who knows.

So the birthday breakfast club finally decided to eat lunch around 3pm.

I ordered the Barbeque Ribs and Chicken plate for $11.99. The fruit you see is supposed to be beans, but you can swap out with a number of different items. I went with fruit.

The chicken was alright but the ribs were... blah. I don't think I'll be coming back here anytime soon! Not too thrilled with their menu.

Borneo, who sat with me at the KID'S table had the 1/2 soup 1/2 sandwich deal, which doesn't look all that bad!

So maybe if I DO go back, I'd get that.

At that point, Borneo had to drive down to San Diego so we wished him well. I went to see SEENOEVIL to get a book from her (thanks!!). When I returned, the rest of the gang were waiting in line for Peter Pan. Hehe... it was like my very own fast pass system!

Stitch and Dontbecheekin joined the party late but enjoyed the short but wonderful Peter Pan ride.

    Mad Tea Cups!

    Disney1978, Stitch, Mousercise!

    Wally, NeverNeverland, and Sierra!

Dontbecheekin in my cup doing all the work! ...wait, that didn't sound right.

    Space Mountain!

So after that it was about 6pm and it was time for me to head back. I was dead tired, cold, and still had to finish my taxes. I'll let the rest of the birthday crew take the rest of the way from here!

    THE END?

Looks like you had a really great birthday. I totally agree with your review of Storyteller's I really love that place. We went there on our recent trip, and ordered off the menu. It was delicious. The good thing was that my grandson wasn't hungry, so I didn't have to pay for food he didn't eat. Sometimes that happens at other establishements that have character meals.

Glad you had a great day at Disneyland for your birthday.

Norm looks really cool in that hat.
