Ok, so did you bring blow-up-y instead?

Oh no way! I'd never take Isis on a long trip like that.

<Explanation: Isis was the name of Bud Bundy's blow up doll>

ive got you beat for me its a thirteen hour drive from northern utah but somehow that still doesnt stop me from making that drive something we do to pass the time is stop in every town along the way and mail post cards to our friends one trip we mailed from 14 different cities its usually me and my friends to and we usually argue about what music we listen to(my choice is of course the little mermaid sdtk)before we get to central utah

Thanks for the explanation, but it's also the name of Cuzco-topia's new kitten and I don't think she'd appreciate you saying stuff about her cat AND BESIDES THAT, taking kittens for rides in your truck ALONE to Disneyland is just creepy so I think I'm going to just go now and leave you to your ickyness!

We can do it Walnut Creek to L.A. in 5-1/2 hours..... But sometimes when you hit that mess in L.A. it can be 3 hours just from there to DL!

5.5 from WC? It's always taken us at least 7 to get down there from WC...the trips always start out so exciting but by the time the iBook and iPod batteries wear out...the ride down does too...not to mention being cramped in a car...but once you first glimpse at all the beautiful green and orange plants, when the Disney property starts, and realize your at DL...it's worth it.

The five hour trip from Berkeley to Los Angeles isn't bad, it actually keeps feeling shorter each time we go. Though, not much to look at for the trip. If any of you are MSTies, it's like that drive in Manos The Hands of Fate..."Oh, another field...another field....and yet more fields..."

oh...and, also...uh...watch out for Coalinga. Phew! Even with the car windows UP, it smells worse than good cheese and bad meat put together. Yucky. -_-

NO I win! 16 hours from Colorado!!! Neener neener!! Did it last November with two of the kids. Not bad at all- when the destination is DL!!

Crayon story- Rose left crayons in the RENTAL car in FLORIDA in JULY. I did not see them, and they were puddles when we got back. Ugh!!

Going down: We try to leave around 4-4:30 am; it's about an hour shot to I-5 in Stockton, and then another 5 hours to Anaheim. This usually includes one potty break, and one break to gas up. Leaving that early, we miss the worst traffic on I-5 in the Stockton-Tracy area, and only catch the last bit of the morning rush going through LA.

The worst part? The road surface once we start the climb. It's like driving on the surface of the moon. Haven't people down there ever thought of maybe paving the highway? I saw a crack in the pavement so big, the last time, three cars had fallen into it. And the road doesn't get any better until you're about 10 miles from Anaheim, where it suddenly turns into a magic carpet ride.

I have never avoided stop and go traffic between Pasadena and Anaheim. I'm not sure it's possible.

Coming back is always horrible. We're always dead tired, the car is usually crammed full of stuff, and it's just a long, grind it out trip where you watch the miles tick off and the hours go by. No matter how fast I drive, it's still going to take forever.

But getting there and pulling into the park is still the best fun of all.

Driving 6 hours from Phoenix goes something like this....

    I spy something brown...
    Dirt.
    Right.
    I spy something blue....
    Sky.
    Right.
    I spy something black....
    Road.
    Right.

It is one UGLY drive with nothing but dirt, brush, sky and road.

Not possible at all! It can be bad even at night.

About the kids and car lights thing... My brother used to take off the light's cover, take out the lightbulb and replace the cover, without my parents realizing... We'd get somewhere at night and the interior light wouldn't go on and my mom would freak.

But we were never going to DL, just grandma's.

But going to DL, if i'm going by myself it's mainly the 5 and I haaaaate then 5, but as soon as it expands into 4, 5 (8?10?) lanes, I know I'm almost there and the excitement starts!

If I pick up dontbecheekin, then I take a different way to her place and we're only on the 5 a few minutes.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
