Don't. Part of the experience of going to DL is eating there. I remember my aunt and cousin (not DL fans) went to DL and left the parks so that they could go back to their hotel room, swim, and order pizza.

I've a family of 4, so usually each takes a backpack carryon type and then we check 2suitcases (+stuff the empty dufflebag for extra cargo on the way home!). You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll run thru your $1500! ;-)

After failing to meet my postcard writing obligations, I've started printing address labels before I go of the people my kids and I would like to send postcards to. It speeds up the process, especially when your 5 year old insists on doing it himself!

Lots of extra batteries and bring them with you into the park, not leave them in the car/hotel room like we did on our last trip and ended up buying overpriced ones rather then waste time walking back to the hotel.

There are times I wish I had ear plugs for many reasons. Mostly because sometimes people in my room snore and other times I end up with loud neighbors.

I wish I remember sun block (Californian since birth, Irish by blood...My face seems to always burn). But I wish I would forget a hang over once in a while. Walking around after a nice of booze sucks. I think I smell weird then too.

In case no one mentioned this already -- I always bring a light waterproof jacket to don while riding GRR and Splash Mountain (you might also try a few cheapo emergency ponchos for the same use). Good walking shoes are also a must, as are sunglasses and hats. June days usually start out pretty overcast in Southern California, but that burns off and it can get fairly warm in the afternoon. I always take a little stash of toiletries like hand sanitizer, lotion, and some aspirin. The earplugs are a great idea -- once I wish I had them IN the park because they had the sound system cranked up too loud on Small World and the boats were backed up inside the show building. Ouch.

I keep vintage DL/WDW video clips on my ipod (WDW opening special, DL 1965) so I can view them standing in the same spot in each park and see the differences. It's like taking Werner to Disneyland!
