Like us:

As I recall the stairs near them that go up are there because there is a water treatment area between the 2 stairwells... not terribly sure about that, but I do recall some type of water feature in that general area.

As I recall, this picture was taken looking east, (back towards the front of SM) after being evac'd off after the final drop right near where the Brer Rabbit pic was taken.

Hope this helps...

Anyone have any more input?

from what I know about construction drawings, these are site copies, that's why they get tossed out at the end. nothing else to do with them, and they would take up an immense amount of room to store them all. I'm sure whoever worked on building these platforms didn't need them anymore. it's just so they don't have to transport / ruin their own copies.

I used to do this type of thing at work, but it wasn't construction biz.

my guess about where these stairs go, and just a guess: on first 2 drawings they are either cast/maintenance access or line bypass/emergency exits. the last one is a little harder to tell, but where they are located in relation to the line seem to suggest something similar. sorry can't be of more assistance, I don't know attraction layouts just have read a lot of drawings.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

I'd seen all the photos you posted except the last one, Circarama, and that one is enormously helpful! Thank you so much. That's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. If anyone else has similar photos--or if you have larger-res images, Circarama--I'd love to see them.

Here's a big thanks to everyone who's helped so far! May Disney never attempt to extinguish our curiosity.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

This thread's been buried by newer ones, so I figure no one will see this unless I give it a little bump...

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

If anyone's interested, here's my current model of the Splash Mountain track. I've hidden the show buildings for Splash and the Haunted Mansion, as well as the mansion facade itself, the train tunnel, and the ODV building.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Thank you! That means a lot to me. I use Blender, a completely free 3D modeling program. I started with an aerial photo from local.live.com; I made this my ground plane. I also lined up the various blueprints so that I can cycle between them and the aerial photo. Then I created a pair of points representing opposite sides of the track. I "extruded" these along the track, following the blueprints, until I reached a curve. Then I used one of Blender's modeling tools, called Spin, to create the first curve. More extrusion, more Spinning, etc., until I reached a drop or lift. At that point, I raised or lowered the vertices in order to create an incline. (Unfortunately, I don't have any building elevations for Splash Mountain, so I have to guess at all the vertical scale.) I kept repeating this process until the track finally met up with itself. Then I just kept tweaking the vertical scale until it seemed right.

If all goes well, I'll post another render with the buildings in place soon. Thanks for the interest!

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

I do have something interesting and here it is:

The set of stairs near the exit area is for single riders. I use Single Rider whenver I can and I am sure that that is it. After going up the stairs look over the wall and you may notice a track. I believe that track is the maintence track heading to the first curve after the station. But where does the track end?

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

So, here's the model as it currently stands. I've also made models of the Indy and POTC show buildings; these can be seen in the Scraps part of my deviantArt gallery, to which there is a link in my sig.

EDIT: Oh, I see what you mean, Sub_Voyage fan. So that curved, empty area in the first blueprint is the maintenance track. According to the blueprints, it meets up with that first curve and ends there. It starts by the last curve before the station, and it connects to the waterway visible in the third photo Circarama posted. I need to see this track for myself as a single rider sometime...

To bad we don't have photos of what it looks like. Cool blueprints

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Well, local.live.com does offer "bird's-eye view" photos. These are oblique aerial photos, meaning they were taken from an angle, not straight overhead. This lets you see the sides of things.

Check out the following:

http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v...0704&encType=1

http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v...3020&encType=1

http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v...0695&encType=1

http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v...3063&encType=1

You can navigate by clicking and dragging. Clicking the points of the compass changes the direction you look from.

Unfortunately, these are the best photos I've found (with the exception of those Circarama posted). I'm also disappointed with the fact that all of the Splash Mountain photos taken from the north are very shady, which makes it difficult to make out any detail, even with significant Photoshopping.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Thank you! I'm enjoying myself quite a bit. Getting the vertical scale right has been difficult because, like I said, I don't have any elevation plans. But the horizontal scale should be perfect, since I'm working off two sets of aerial photos and the blueprints, and the vertical scale seems to be right, based on what photos I've seen.

If you'd like to see a render from a specific camera position, let me know; there's a lot of detail you can't see in this render.

Thanks again for the interest! It means a lot to me.

If I understand this question,
I can answer it (haunted mansion wise), but it could spoil ideas about the house, then again, and disney fanatic already knows about the house and the tunnel.
