Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Will you be doing mintaures of the inside scenes?

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Maybe. I at least want to install the walls and partitions and scenery that separate the different show scenes, but animatronics would be very difficult to model accurately. I could simply create placemarkers--you know, stick-figurish replacements for the animatronics--but that'd be too tacky for my tastes. So we'll see. Keep in mind my original purpose with this whole project was to be able to understand and see the relationships between backstage and onstage.

Here's an ultra wide angle shot of Splash Mountain and its environs, taken from the bridge where most people stand to take shots of Splash Mountain. That gray area between the foreground walkway and the main drop is the concrete floor of Old Mill Pond. Also noticed the exposed concrete of the berm (strangely green for the time being), the unfinished queue buildings at the far right, and just how much higher the Haunted Mansion facade is than the actual ground level.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Thanks! Yeah, the hovering buildings are certainly odd. Those'll be fixed...someday.

And now for something completely different. Lo and behold, it's a perspective-less wireframe shot from directly overhead.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Sorry, I don't have one ready right now. I'll have to let it render overnight. Since that'll give it more time than usual anyway, I may as well make it a huge rendering--probably 2000 pixels or so on a side. Hopefully, it'll be done by the time I get up.

Well I shouldn't be saying this but it is one of those Zippity-Doo-Dah Days, you know the kinda day, when you can't open your mouth without an answer jumping right out of it. So here ya go, the answers you have been searching for. First, the stairs, all those stairs that go up and down all lead to the same place. "The Laughing Place"yep it is funny but true. Then you ask "What the heck is this stuff" and "what goes in here next to those 3 big pipes"? Well again, I have the answer, that is where they store the Zippity-Doo-Dads, which of course are left over and broken Zippity-Doo-Dahs. Now Mr. Blueprints on your shoulder, it's a fact those answers are actual and satisfactual...

I would be "Re mis" if I did not quote my source... The Li-BRER-ian

::facepalm:: Thank you!

All righty! Clocking in at 5 hours, 23 minutes, and 4 seconds, this is the most lengthy rendering I've done so far of this model. Now, this is not a small file, folks. "Not a small file" having the meaning here of 2000 by 2000 pixels. Click the thumbnail at your own risk. It'll open over at Imageshack, resized to fit your screen, but if you click that image, it'll go back to its gigantic original resolution. Happy pixel-peeping!

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

I don't know anything about this building but per California building code the stairs could simply be for exiting reasons. Based on the size and type of building (it's big and is an Assembly occupancy) they need to account for a relatively large amount of people to safely evacuate the building in the event of fire or earthquake. So there may be what looks like "unnecessary" stairs, to provide enough exiting width for the maximum amount of people the building can hold, per square footage.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

That is a mondo serious render.
This is something I would imagine that Disney should do, or they probably do do (doodoo?) when they make official projects.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Here are a couple of actual 3D renders. The first is the cross-eyed variant; look at the two images and go cross-eyed until they match up and you see the three-dimensionality.

The second is the red-and-blue-glasses variety, where you need cheap little 3D glasses to see everything.

Re: Splash Mountain blueprints!

Thanks! I wish I could post the cross-eyed one bigger, but then it gets very difficult to cross your eyes that far.
