    Splash Mountain is testing

i was looking at darkbeer's pictures today and i noticed that the logs in the backstage were missing. He then got photographs of the logs going down the drops. How cool is this

I usually fly out every 2 months. It will be 8 months (wayyyy to long..it's what happens when you buy a house...you don't have money) when I return.
I hope Splash is up and running. It's been down for quite awhile.

It's so nice to see that picture. It does feel like forever since it's been open. I haven't been on Splash in so long but that is mainly my fault since I didn't go the past couple times it has been open and my last trip it was closed for this big refurb. I always get psyched to see it up and running so thanks for pointing this out. Yay for logs!

It is great to see the logs!!

I can't imagine why they would load the logs in unless it meant that they might be close to being finished inside. Yet, we are still weeks off from the opening date.

What are the odds that this is all just a big tease and they will hold firm with their date?

All attractions no matter if it's flume, steel coaster, or carosels, go through weeks of testing before it's opened to the public. So they will be teasing us with running logs until the scheduled release on the long-awaited 5/18 opening.

Testing new sensors, lifts, Intrusion systems, E stops, Ride stops, Fire systems all that fun stuff. Also making sure the new stainless steel flume rails hold up and do not damage the logs.

Not to mention there are still tarps on the west side of the mountain (visible from backstage and maybe the monorail). It's still a little bit to go. Keep patient, folks.

I wish they'd slow it down again and bring back the water cannon every 3 logs =) Splash has really been paling in comparison to florida's both in storytelling and getting wet on it :P

    Re: Splash Mountain is testing

The one you're talking about is sometimes on sometimes off, lately off.. And it shoots 2 sets of water blasting from the left and right as you go down into the mist.

The water cannon I'm talking about is the one that's been removed and used to go off every 3 logs and would shoot a large blast of water from a pipe in the briar patch up into the air, clearly visible by everyone watching the logs go down.

WDW's still has something similar to this that goes off EVERY log and, as a result, when you make that first turn and are going by the briar patch you usually don't just get water launched up and dumped on you once but twice heh.
