What are some unique things I can do outside of riding the rides that I can do when I'm in DL. I'm planning a trip there in Oct for 6 days. I want to take the "A Walk in Walt's Footsteps" Tour for sure. But I'm looking for other things as well.
ALso in California adventure.. but mostly DL..
Well Jules and I always do certain things...(besides the drinks at the Cove Bar! :) ).
For instance, every morning when we enter the park, first thing we do is go to the Penny Arcade and pay 25 cents a piece for a Fortune reading. We immediately put them in our pockets and enjoy the park. At the very end of the day, as we go back to our hotel, we pull them out and read them to each other...it's very special!
Visit the Disney Gallery, you can really spend some time there. sit and people watch either in NOS or on Main Street. Visit the Opera House and the Fire House, and I think Walk iin Walts Footsteps is a great idea.
Take time to go to both Disneyland Hotel and GCH. They both have wonderful ambiance.
I havent spent a lot of time at DCA so cant help you much there.
Visit the SECRET BATHROOM and give a report.

There is the balcony dessert buffet for Fantasimc (extra cost, reserve in advance)
Ask to ride in the wheel house of the Twain (if it's back in service)
Ask to ride up front in the monorail
Ask real real real nice if you can take a ride in the private rail car known as Lilly Belle (good luck on that one...)
There is a flag ceremony each evening

Go for a tender ride on the train, ask a cast member to see the secret pet cemetary at HM, look for hidden Mickeys, and above all...just sit. Pick a spot and look around, so often people spend the whole day moving from one place to another and forget to just enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of the park.

we do the fortune thing also, but we read them right away. I do keep them for a while. i still have the one from my last visit on my desk at work.
I think my favorite fortune machine from when I was a child is gone. It used to be in the store right near POTC and I thik it was pirate themed. I used always get one from there, but now I get them on main street.
We also like getting ice cream from the gibson girl and eating it on the porch across the street.
