Last weekend, I had a matinee concert to go to at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. Given Cerritos' proximity to Anaheim, it didn't take much to convince me to drive down to DLR after the concert was over at 5pm. At first, I was going to watch Block Party Bash and then get dinner. But I was feeling more in the mood to visit Agrabah, tap my toes to Friend Like Me and see if there were any new Genie ad-libs. So, off to the Hyperion Theater I went!

The Legend of the Lamp

Do I really get a free t-shirt if I go into the Cave of Wonders and get the lamp?


Where will we find this "diamond in the rough"? Perhaps he's lurking just offstage?

Prince Ali

A suitor for Princess Jasmine arrives in Agrabah. This entrance always gets the kids attention.
Hmmm, maybe I should use this approach at my next staff meeting.


With the arrival of another suitor, Jafar exits with a flourish.


The Genie tries to get chummy with the Sultan. I recommend an offering of Pocky.
While I prefer chocolate myself, I think the Sultan would like Coconut Milk or maybe even Mango flavor.


Prince Ali thinks Pocky is a good suggestion. Two thumbs up!


A member of Prince Ali's entourage offers Jafar a ride to A Whole New World. He incomprehensibly turns down her offer.
Loser.


Genie and Carpet do their Elvis bit.


Genie encourages Aladdin to speak to Jasmine from the heart.
Gifts and trying to impress her just won't do it. Not even Pocky.

Fantastic shots! (I just hope you didn't use a flash... ) More, more!!!

I've seen Aladdin probably 5 or 6 times since the beginning of the year and I'm impressed that most guests pay attention to the no flash announcement before the show starts. Of course it's a humorous announcement, so people tend to remember: (paraphrasing) "You're about to journey to a land. A land of no flash photography, video lighting or cell phones." It makes me chuckle every time I hear it.

And since you asked for more, here's part III...


Genie thinks he's about to get his freedom. Little does he know that Aladdin wants to use his third wish to jump to the front of the line when the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opens on June 11


But the nasty Jafar has taken control of the Genie's lamp. Now he'll be the first to ride the subs. No fair.


You look good up close.
But you look better from Jafar.
(note: I always laugh at this joke. I'm easily amused.)


The Sultan is despondent at the recent turn of events. He needs something to cheer him up.
Maybe a pep talk?

The spotlight is on Aladdin. And he's in big trouble.


However, Aladdin has a plan. Carpet can hardly bear to look though.
Will it work? Can he really fool Jafar?


Caught in Ali's trap! Into the lamp you go.

Awwwwww. A happy ending. It even makes grown Genies cry.


This Bachelor has given the final rose to contestant #3 and they're getting hitched.


Wave to the Genie. He's a free dude now.
