    Odd Opening Hour in September.

I was just searching through the park hours on Disneyland's website and it appears that there is a very odd opening hour on September 3.

Disneyland park will open at 10am and close at 11pm. Which I find odd because usually when the park closes that late, it opens earlier.

California Adventure also has odd opening hours. It will open at 11am and close at 9pm. 99% of California Adventure always opens at 10am.

Any ideas on why this may be?

Here's the link to see for yourselves.

That sounds like a schedule for the kind of day where they don't expect a lot of people from out of town staying in the hotels but expect a lot of locals anyways. Probably labor day huh?:P heh.

True but it still doesn't make much sense to me, especially if the park will be filled with mainly locals and they have a 3 day weekend. Why would they open so late if there is no work or school the day before?

You are right, but it seems like such an insignicant thing.

But yeah, when Disneyland closes at midnight on Fridays, it opens at 9am. On Sundays when it closes at 11pm, it opens at 8am. Seems like Labor Day should be an 8am-11pm day, but who knows.

It isn't a huge deal but I find I think it's worthy of discussing. Especially since both parks are opening so late.

Half-marathon? I seem to recall that being in September last year...

Yeah, the Disneyland Half-Marathon is on Labor Day this year. It's a very big deal, the race goes through Disneyland, and they open the park late that day.

It's best to stay away from Anaheim during the Half-Marathon. It gets crazy.

Did they do it on Labor Day last year? And will they open DCA instead? I have a feeling many, many people will show up on this holiday expecting to be in by at least by 9 am. I don't want to think about the size of the lines of people waiting at the gates if they don't open until 10 am.

Are we sure this isn't a misprint? Doesn't the Marathon make it's way through there before 8 am? Isn't 10 AM the standard opening time in the Fall once kids go back to school? I'm voting for misprint.

It is because of the Half-Marathon, it is being held on September 3rd (Labor Day). It was the only date that would work with Angel Stadium in the late August/ early September period. The Half-Marathon uses BOTH Disneyland and DCA, so neither park can open early.
