    Talking Mono's photo challenge

    Thesis statement:
    Since some of you like games and some of you like taking photos. I'm hoping that there's a cross-section of MiceChatters that like both. As illustrated by this Venn Diagram.

    Proposition:
    I'd like to set you shutterbugs a task. Either from already taken shots or the next time you're in the park, can you find circumstantial photographic evidence of the Skyway today?

    There's one HUGELY obvious one - the alpine haus styled station at the top of Fantasyland. That one wont get you any points.

    Ranking will be awarded objectively by me on the following items:
    * Obscurity of subject
    * Detail / obscurity of explanation
    * Extreme cleverness
    * Photographic composition
    * Level of material evidence

    Just how well did TDA obliterate the evidence? Photos must be reasonably recent and at least taken after the Skyway was removed. Think laterally. But please don't do anything dangerous or against Disney regulations to obtain any shots. Most importantly - have fun.

    Nautilus' shot of the skyway ghost is going to be tough to beat.

    Yes! That's the one I had in mind where I said "There's one HUGELY obvious one - the alpine haus styled station at the top of Fantasyland. That one wont get you any points." It's a great photo isn't it? But I'm looking for more obscure and circumstantial evidence....

    I offer this: The holes in the Matterhorn:

    These two (now slightly camouflaged) holes stand as a reminder that the Matterhorn was built directly in the path of the Skyway. They're filled-in now, but continue to taunt those who remember being able to fly over the Happiest Place on Earth.

    Not terribly esoteric, but also not obvious to the casual observer. Don't you love how the Skyway was never stopped while the Matterhorn was constructed around it? The fill in job Disney did wasn't totally camouflaging and one can still see the outline of the rectangular holes.

    I'd say on a scale of Obvious Alpine Haus to Complete Insider Knowledge this rates well.

    Can anyone do better?..

    The matterhorn itself should at least get a couple of points, since 50% of the reason they built it was to hide the skyway support pole.

    Ward's winning so far...

    (Let's just say that unless you tell me something I don't already know you're not going to rate highly.)

    shrug for a while they had a park map where they'd removed the stations and the wires but there was still a lone, floating skybucket in the middle of the matterhorn walkway by mistake. besides that and the 2 stations there's not really anything. there was an homage to it with an old ride vehicle, but for stuff left over I doubt there's anything. you could just walk along the path of it and see if you spot anything though.

    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
    Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
    And I can tell you 'bout today
    And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
    I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Now that is interesting! If you had photographic evidence you'd be in the lead here. Something I hadn't heard of before.

    I offer photographic evidence of the floating skybucket:

    BTW - I'm not really sure how either textual or photograhpic evidence of the 'skyway-bucket-map-ghost' fits within mono's rules. The rules refer to evidence of the Skyway today (mono's bolding), yet the ghost-skybucket was printed in 1995 for Disneyland's "40 Years of Adventure" wall map. That's over ten years ago. Secondly, the assumption is that the evidence can be found within the park, and this map is most likely not on display in the park.

    Ruling?

    I was thinking along those lines but didn't want to be such a hard task master, but since you beat Almandot to the mark with the "photographic evidence" I'm going to have to award you both equal standing on this point.

    If you're after an actual ruling: Preference is given to more recently taken photographs of actual objects still in the park. But esoteric info like the park map leftover gets brownie points. If I didn't know it already, it's probably something worth knowing. I draw your attention to the most important rule - Have fun!
