Fast Pass needs to go away already!

On another thread I saw that the Indiana Jones Adventure hasn't used their FP system in a while and it has actually IMPROVED their wait times, which just goes to show that the entire conecpt of FP is flawed and actually makes wait times WORSE. Space Mountain is a good example. The last time we attempted to ride the line didn't look too long from the Innoventions balcony so we went down and the sign even stated 20 minutes wait time. That was a complete lie. When we got in line, which was barely outside the covered part of the que (where the fountain is) the line didn't move much. It would move just a few feet at a time but for the most part it didn't move. People comming in through the FP line were constantly causing the line to stop while they were allowed inside. almost 30 minutes later we finally made it inside the building. I'm sure if FP didn't exist we would have already been on the ride and on our way to the next attraction.

Yeah, FP works great when you manage to get a FP but when it comes to popular attractions if you go in the afternoon good luck getting a pass because by that time most have already been handed out and this isn't even summer yet!

I say we should get rid of Fast Passes and go back to traditional lines.

Fast pass worked when it was tested on Space. I saw the wait times get lowered, when it was only available on space. But since they have now added the machines to all the bigger rides, the wait times have gone up because the system allows people to be in two lines at once. On rides like Pirates, the wait time after 8 pm was nothing until they put the machines in, then we had to wait 20 minutes to ride it. Now that they removed the FP machines, the wait time went back down to nothing.

I Actully voted to keep the machines in the poll above, even though I think the system stinks. I feel that they can tweak the systemt to work better then completely removing the machines.

FP can work, as was obvious on Space when it was the only attraction offering it back in the day.

I love the fact that you can give a fastpass to a cast member that was generated two years ago. If the cast member asks, just tell them you've been waiting a really long time!

Compared to what? A few weeks ago? The park is a complete lull right now. Low wait times are due to crowd levels.. not FP or not.

Fast Passes create a class system, there is the class of guests that know how to work the system, and those that do not. For those of us that learn how to work the system via hundreds of visits, websites or AP friends it is a great thing! But for the casual once in a few years day visitor or out of town tourist it just not a fair, since for high profile attractions (I.E Space Mountain) fast passes run out by 10am on peak days and standby lines go very slowly while the FastPass holders come in droves especially after parades etc.
Even if the guest happened to read the gude and learn how to use fast pass in most cases they would be unable to get a fastpass from a high profile attraction.
I think Indiana Jones is better without fastpasses as are most of the other attractions. Especially thunderMountain, the fast pass really slows that line down.
IMHO FastPass should be a thing of the Past hopefully sometime soon. Keep everyone on equal footing, more fair and more fun at the end of the day.

Do we need 3 threads on FastPass? I think by now it's pretty clear what the arguments are on both sides, and we're now just in an unending vortex of repeating ourselves. There is a FastPass thread sticky'd in the forum, and discussion should stay there IMHO.

Except.. no 'tricks' make the FP run out by 10am. That's pure demand. The tricks of using non-networked machines, or holding rather then using a pass aren't going to make the passes run out that early in the day.

The people that can 'maximize' the system.. so be it. That is a minority. The rest of the park patrons that can figure out a simple sign can use FP to their enjoyment.

Amazing how 'how to maximize FP' is such a hot topic in the same place where hating FP is so prevalent.

I still hold the belief the staunchest haters are those who can't be bothered to come back at a later time or are the types that come to the park late in the day.
