Re: Grad Nite

I went in 2001... a lot of things have changed since then. But here's how it was for me.

A bunch of So Cal radio stations had set up a "club" in a different area of the park (they had Top 40, techno (because it was cool back then), rock, r&b..).

All the restaurants were closed but then had the carts that sell snacks and coffee open. They also had all the stores on main street open.

At around 3am... all the benches and sidewalks were taken by sleeping students.

That's about all I can remember.

Re: Grad Nite

My only advice, don't be dumb, be smart!

Buy anything you want when you first get there, otherwise you'll be with the rest of the kids in mile long lines waiting FOREVER, and this is not an overstatement.

You think whatever you want to buy that has Grad Night 2007 on it will be there when it's 4 or 5am.

Think again.

Bye.

Re: Grad Nite

They are having one tomorrow with all that Pirates stuff set up I hear...I suppose it will work out. I just hope the teenagers don't ruin the park.

Re: Grad Nite

Watch out for trash cans in the middle of the path when they herd you down the tram route to the main gate. Trust me...watch out.

Re: Grad Nite

Go on Splash as the sun is coming up. That is still a peak experience in my mind from my Grad Nite (especially when you're winding along in the flume near the beginning at the top of the mountain). It's something you will never have the opportunity to do again.

Other than that, just have fun, and don't let fatigue overcome you! You can sleep later - play the whole night!

Re: Grad Nite

I did Grad Nite back in 2000 (I know, I'm old) and in 1999 as a Junior. Keep awake is all I can say. That and comfy shoes. When I went they were running the Mark Twain with a DJ from KROQ around the Rivers of America. They played The Violent Femmes' "Add It Up" around the backside of TSI *uncensored.* It was a truly bizarre experience hearing about 100 or so teenagers shouting the F word at the top of their lungs.

Re: Grad Nite

To anyone going to any of the Grad Nites.....If you are asked a question by the Security Officers doing the screening prior to entering the park, think twice about being a smartass. Last week there was a grad who thought he'd be funny when asked a question and he gave a very ignorant
reply ( I won't go into the details). The end result is he went straight from the turnstiles to the detention center where he spent the entire night with his chaperone. Your supposed to be there to have a great time, don't end it before it even gets started by saying something stupid when asked a question by Security.
