Re: Disneyland in 3D!

I'm getting ready for some bermatic action between the Haunted Mansion and Pirates, right behind NOS station! I've got the footprint of the backstage retaining wall already made...

And in other news, I've got some new backstage photos on my Flickr account, with more on the way.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Fun little wireframe overview of the whole project as it currently stands...

Thanks! That's a lot of hours of work, but some parts look a lot more complicated than they actually are--most notably the Haunted Mansion graveyard, which shows up as a complicated grid in the northern part of the show building. All the overlapping elements in Splash Mountain look pretty complicated in this view, too.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Lots of berming going on here...but nothing to show for it yet. Boy, it's frustrating to create organic shapes.

Sometimes. It's a challenge...which means it's kind of interesting...and it looks cool when it works right. It's pretty difficult, though, and the payoff doesn't usually look all that great. Oh well.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

My goal is to have a little surprise for y'all by the end of today. We'll see if it pans out...

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

All righty! It is with great pleasure that je vous presente the first ever Virtual Magic video! Actually, it's my first Blender animation of any sort, and it turned out well enough for me to show it off. I apologize for the compression and for the logo; hopefully, I'll be able to upload higher-quality videos soon. Anyway, this should give you a feel for the kind of content I'm ultimately pushing for.

EDIT: And while I'm at it, here's a render I forgot to post. We're looking out through the doors next to Indy's office in the queue.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

And, just because the response to the first video has been so phenomenal , here's another on YouTube.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Very cool! A lot of long hours in this I can tell -- a job well done as well! My favorite pic in the recent days is the top-down wire frame though! Thanks a bunch for that!

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Thanks, guys. I always appreciate feedback.

I'm now working on the elevated monorail track. Or rather, I'm working on the pylons that hold it up.
