Re: Disneyland in 3D!

DM, thanks for the Anaheim City Hall blueprint low-down and process detail!

From your previous post, it sounds like all the 1313 Harbor Blvd blueprints were scanned and available for on-line viewing from a Building Dept computer (terminal). So, they let you view the BPs online and once you've found blueprint files of interest (each file probably coded with a unique reference number or identifier (other than just "1313 Harbor Blvd"), they have a system set up where you can request a printout of the specific BP file/files (which they print on a large-format printer, I surmise, or they have an outside service do this) for a fee per Blueprint (care to let us know what the "fee per Blueprint" is - in a PM if not in this thread?). I also assume "you" probably have to come back another day to pick up your BPs (since I doubt they are set up for "print on demand").

And it sounds like you are very sure that one cannot order the BP copies by phone or on-line, if one knows specifically what to ask for? (I just had to ask...)

Would you care to ask for multiple copies (while you're getting yours), if we send you dinero and shipping fees (again, I just had to ask...)

Anaheim Blvd.) make a left down a short hall, and get a number at a kiosk in a room with counters. Then when your number is called, you go up to the desk, explain that you'd like to view blueprints of 1313 Harbor Blvd. (Disneyland's address), and they'll get you set up. Consider yourself forewarned, though: there are a lot of files, all simply marked "1313 Harbor", and each contains anywhere from three to three hundred pages. If you want to be thorough (like I do), it'll take a few hours to go through them all.

Unfortunately, this has to be done in person. They do have a phone number, but that won't do you any good--especially because the very snooty and unfriendly operator I got told me they had no Disneyland blueprints! How wrong he was...
I hope your using these blueprints for your digital disneyland!!!

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Correct you are, Hobbs_End. I don't know the fee; it varies depending on the originator of the prints, and I haven't ordered any yet. That'll have to wait a while, to my deepest disappointment. I'm currently living in So Cal, but I can't just make it over to Anaheim anytime I want, unfortunately. So the soonest chance I get, I'll spend a few hours there assessing which prints are needed and investigating prices. Supposedly, copies often come the same day or the following day. I need to find out if they can be mailed out or if they have to be picked up in person. And indeed, it seems you can't do it by phone.

Regarding paying for additional copies for y'all, we'll have to discuss that on a case-by-case, private basis when the time comes.

Nah...I thought I'd buy hundreds of blueprints for the park and then never use them for the model.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

I'm hoping to make it down there sometime in the next month or two and when and if I do I'll see what I can find out about getting prints.

Great! We'll see who makes it there first. In the mean time, here's a pretty accurate shot of the layout photo overlaid on the aerial photo. I understand if you don't use this because you'd rather wait for concrete verification in the form of an actual print, but please do bear in mind how detail-oriented I've been and trust me when I say this is pretty darn accurate.

Are you sure?
I kid, I kid.
Great work (but we all know this already)

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

So the exit corridor loops around behind pretty much the entire track?

Apparently so. I only looked at that print long enough to note where the track was and how big it was, but it seems the exit loops around the back and into Store Command. I'll pay careful attention next time I ride--I've only been on BLAB twice in my life, actually.

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Not to hijack the thread, but if/when the peoplemover comes back they should put targets on the sides of the cars for when it goes through Buzz.

And the next virtual tour is now up, by the way. EDIT: And the next one, too.

Hey, I'm glad to hear it! Thank you so much. I have every intention of continuing for quite a while longer, so hang on for the ride.

EDIT: And FYI, y'all, I'm working on uploading a bunch of backstage photos I took a few days ago. Stuff from Disneyland Drive and stuff from the Grand Californian, mostly, since both offer tempting (and legal!) glimpses of backstage that most people don't notice--which is why Disney has no real reason to do anything about it for the time being, since it isn't ruining the experience for people, which is good for people like me, because then I get tiny peaks at the real versions of the stuff I've been building. Aaaaaanyway, those photos will be up on Flickr soon, I hope. Probably tomorrow.

I am back, with my rhyming skills, o sorrow.

Prepare for more torture, more pain, and more rhymes.

I have so much rhyming skill, you cannot even BORROW

Now, I come back in the nick of the times.

Your 3D skill continues to rival my rhymes.

You have grown strong, padawan, but not strong enough!

If I could, I would frankly throw you into the river Thymes.

Sadly, that is unprofessional, and would to pull it off would be tough,

*ding*

Re: Disneyland in 3D!

Just a bit curious, are you planning on doing the whole park, including like the Downtown Disney area and possibly DCA after you finish your work on Disneyland? That would be awesome!
