    Read something about that.
I not sure of the full extent of it, but I know there was an change of plans.

To say that the top of Sleeping Beauty Castle was built backwards is to imply that it was constructed improperly. The final castle does differ from the early concept art that featured a Neuschwanstein inspired castle.

I've heard two stories regarding the change. One is that the model maker made a mistake and placed the top piece on backwards. Before he could go back and mak the correction, Walt saw the model and decided that he like that way better. The other is that one of the Imagineers took off the top of the model, switched it around, and then used it to convince Walt to make the change.

I took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour a couple of weeks ago and the tour guide said it was the model mistake scenario and Walt liked it better that way when he saw it.

After Marvin Davis's 129 different concept sketches, Herb Ryman was looking at the model with Walt and flipped the top of the model around, Walt told him he liked it better that way and it was built accordingly. :]

i read some where that the top was put on backwards so that it wouldn't be a exact copy of the original castle that inspired it.
