I understand where you are coming from but remember this is not about fun. It is about synergy. Disney is not paying out big bucks except for attractions that can enhance other parts of its business. Right now Pirates is a major money making franchise. If these same execs were in charge of Disneyland in the 1950's that island would be called Davy Crocket Island. It is all about what will sell merchandise, not completely about what is fun.

They did do a nice job matching the artwork and style of the old map. Nice to know that WDI is still great at graphics.

Too bad they're no longer so great at understanding theme.

I thinnk it's more along the lines of WDI was handed something that was not a very good idea and they're doing their best to make it look good. Sorta like gold-plating excrement. (I'll edit that out if someone objects).

I probably can't make it until the fall, I'm glad there will be folks on here that report about their experience. Those pictures look great.

The Island use to have it's first raft about 10:00 well after the rope drop. I wonder if they are going to start early this weekend?

Thankfully, I'm at least happy in knowing there were probably Imagineers out there who realized they had sold their souls to the Devil, and truly regret in their hearts what they were forced to do. That island is now a mockery of everything Disney tried to accomplish.

I look forward to their stories when they move on from Glendale.

By using this board as an indicator, I'd say those lining up for the pirate rafts (ouch)on Friday, won't get in there 'til Fall EITHER!

Maybe while they're in line for Pirate Island I can get in line for Nemo...
