There have been movies filmed at Magic Mountain. I could see a movie filmed on Main St USA before park opening with people dressed in period costumes. Why haven't any film companies done this?
When I go to Disneyland, I tune my FRS Radio to channel 2, without a quiet code. They're faster than a cell phone and you can talk to a whole group at a time, and you don't have to get everyone's cell phone number in advance.
First off I wonder if people would be interested in that type of a movie? Also they would probably have to leave certain equipment out, and how would that effect the parades that go down Main Street - because you can't really expect to film a scene in a few hours.
Why would an outside company want to shoot in Disneyland, if the film doesn't involve Disneyland? And why would Disney allow this?
And more importantly, when would Main Street USA be cleaned and maintained for theme park guests with an all night shoot going on while the park is closed?
Makes more sense to use actual backlot sets or shoot on location.
Question on that, when ABC was blatanly promoting WDW in their shows when every show went there (i.e. Family Matters, Full House, Step by Step and Sabrina, Teenage Witch) did they actually use guests in the background?
Because DL costs way too much to rent! There are location scouts whose whole job is to find the cheapest suitable location to shoot at - the cost of a location is that important. It would be cheaper to build a replica of Main St. (fronts only) than rent it long enough to shoot there. One reason it's expensive is DL is open every day. Magic Mountain #1 would be much cheaper, and #2 is closed more often so it's more often available. In the winter it doesn't even open at all during the week. WHen the park is closed, it isn't making money. They might as well encourage filming there at a reasonable cost.
Another reason might be is that there is a bright pink fairy tale castle at the end of the street. Just a thought really.
