Talking What time is the 3:00 parade?

It's a classic Disney question. Just wondering....has anyone actually asked this question to a CM in DL? It's no secret that, these days, CMs aren't the most knowledgeable bunch and haven't been trained in Traditions as well as they should.

http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=ma070522jk

Share your experiences here if you've asked this question. Or, if you're going to the park today, ask and then report back on what responses you get.

Oh, come on. I get enough stupid questions as it is without them actually being encouraged.

Besides, we don't have a 3:00 parade. It's 3:30 and 6:30 on weekends and 7:00 on weekdays.

Re: What time is the 3:00 parade?

I've gotten:

-What size is this shirt? (with price tag and collar tag sticking out)
-Will I look fat in said shirt
-And the infamous "When is the 3:00 parade"?

Then I get stupid questions like When was space mountain first opened, whats in the second story of the firehouse, etc... I mean come on! Who DOESN'T know these things. Guests can be so ignorant.

Slightly off topic, but I remember when I was younger, I would volunteer to answer phones at my church. The all time best question was "What time does midnight mass start?" Just thought I would share that.

Re: What time is the 3:00 parade?

Well, when I went to go buy Disney Dollars for someone this past week I had no clue how it worked. I went to the first register I saw in the Emporium, and asked him if they sold the Dollars - and he said ... that's what that line behind you is for.

I turned around and saw a line forming at the counter right behind me. Might have been a silly question, but honestly I'd never bought these things so I didn't know where to go.

Even though we think some of the questions are silly we have to keep in mind that not everyone is a regular visitor, nor do they want to be bothered with reading maps or signs (don't know why though). Just laugh answer the question and move along.

Not everyone's a regular visitor? ABSOLUTELY. People should be treated as first timers even if they're not, IMO. However, Don't want to be bothered with reading signs is NOT ok. You have no idea how many people come to us FUMING because they missed a parade or didn't realize DCA closed early or bla bla bla. There is no stupid question, but I can't help you if you don't try to help you first.

And to be ON topic: favorite question ever was from the woman standing in front of Frontierland entrance right after fireworks, who asked "when does the street turn so I get to see the castle?"

ok, this is totally off topic, but the stupid questions don't only apply at DL. When I used to work a movie theater people would always ask, what time does the 3:00 show start. People never cease to amaze me.

Re: What time is the 3:00 parade?

Obviously, such questions seem silly, just on the face of them. Back in the Stone Age when I worked at the Park, I got a few of these myself when I made my way to and from my backstage work space.

I would snicker (inside) at such things too. But it ocurred to me that, especially from first time visitors, that there was something more to it. The "3:00 parade" in this case starts in one area of the park, (Small World area" and ends in another area "Town Square"). So in some cases it seems to me the people are asking at what more precise time the parade will pass their particular spot.

When this is true, the question should be worded differently. But if they're real visitors, they're probably overwhelmed.

Just a thought from the "devil's advocate" point of view.

Makes a little more sense in the movies though. Some movies have 20 - 30 mins of pre-movie crap and others have maybe 7 - 10. Yes, it is a question often asked in all seriousness, but it just comes out worded wrong.

And I like the questions when everyone is gathered in the hub at about 8:30 pm.

Guest: "Is this for the parade?"
CM: "No, this is for the fireworks."
Guest" "Oh, ok. Where are those going to be at."

Yeah, you get good questions as a CM on parades and fireworks. My favorite night though was when it was a really dead day to the point that 2 of us went out and started asking people if there was ever anything that they wanted to know about Disneyland. And the first question? "Is there a basketball court in the Matterhorn?" And that was really the only question we got that was about DL. I wanted to be quizzed in front of everyone. Sadly, no one asked much else.
