Walt Disney's POTC

Seeing as POTC was the last attraction over seen by Walt, why not (in honor of him) name the ride Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean? It would just be a good honor to him. Hey, if they did at Walt Disney's at the front it wouldn't need to be like the movie! But of course it's already been done. Anyway,

Walt has his name in enough places around the parks, methinks, to have been suitably tributed.

That would be the same thing as having a PEEKland (peek is my last name). I dont think you could plaster your name any larger than naming the park after yourself.

Remember.. Disney was the name of the COMPANY too.. He didn't name it 'Walt Disney Land' - nor was WDW to be named that either. That was done by Roy Disney.

Disney is the brand name. Yes, it's also his last name, but the two issues are slightly different.

"Disney" = family name = family fun

"Walt Disney" = 1 man

Walt was very adamant about keeping things modest in reference to himself (at least in terms of the park). You can bet that we'd never have the Partners Statue in Disneyland if Walt were still alive. He would have thrown a fit.

Pirates of the Caribbean might have been the last attraction he truly worked on, but the brand name "Disney" in general reflects the greatness of what he brought to the world. I think that's good enough for Walt, and I don't think he'd want his name plastered on the attraction.

While Marc Davis did have a great influence on Pirates, there are plenty of other Imagineers who also made significant contributions to the attraction, e.g., Claude Coats, Blaine Gibson, Wathel Rogers, X Atencio, Alice Davis, etc.

In the case of Pirates, I don't think you could justify singling out Marc Davis. In fact, one of the the reasons why I think Pirates is so great is because of the intense collaboration between all the Imagineers. If you are looking to put Marc Davis' name above an attraction, Country Bears or America Sings would be more appropriate.
