When I saw the title, I was expecting a bright, light blue color for some reason.
I really like the new color on him! He looks a lot better!

Everybody’s got a laughing place. Trouble is, most folks won’t take the time to go look for it. And where it is for one, it mightn’t be for another. ~ Splash Mountain
A definite improvement!
He looks a lot lighter. I like it.

When I first saw him yesterday I thought "boy they had a lot of paint left over in Tomorrowland so they used it on Monstro".
I like it. He was just darker blue then.... I just think they used what paint they had and mixed it up....
I like him.![]()
I'm addicted and I don't care!!!![]()
October 2005:
Darker than he is now, but definitely with a blue cast.
I like Monstro BlueI thought he needed a little color to him.
About the kind of whale Monstro is.....what species has teeth like that?
Answer: None
Monstro's teeth closely resemble an "Orca" ("Killer Whale"), which is actually more closely related to the dolphin / porpoise toothed-whale family than to most species of whale; I think that the Right Whale still falls into this class as well... Most of the larger whales (Blue Whale, etc) are members of the Baleen family: they have baleen (a big seive to strain the tiny fish / plankton that they eat) instead of teeth.
I think that Disney incorporated the teeth into the original movie to add "danger" to the scenes...
(baleen just doesn't have the same Fear Factor)

Love the blue! Thanks for the pictures, everyone!
Everyone is trying to figure out what kind of whale Monstro is - from his teeth, to the shape of his head.....etc. I have the answer. HE is a Cartoon Whale!
And when I was a kid, that eyeball on Monstro used to captivate me...I remember standing there at probaby the age of 4 just staring at it...watching it open and close....fascinated me...and Monstro is one of the most fantastic pieces in Fantasyland - I think.
Monstro is based on a Sperm Whale ala Moby Dick. The head and body shape, the teeth etc, all conform to those of a Sperm Whale.
