It's time to blow up small world

OK, I know I will catch a lot of heat from some on this, but I really think it is time for It's a Small world to be put to rest. The ride is in serious disrepair in my opinion, and the ride is, well annoying.

Now with that said, a new small world should be put in it's place after the first one is gone, and a proper mourning period is observed. The ride theme is more than worthy enough to continue. The exterior architecture is still fun and interesting. It can continue to be a water ride, keep the boats. But GUT the ride. Bring back new and improved AA dolls (heck the current ones are mostly dolls on sticks that spin in circles) New songs (keep a little of the old song in for the memories) and new interior all around. This includes the interior of the building too (walls, ceilings). Close the thing down for a year, and do it right. Oh, and NO pirates!

    What do you guys think?

Nope. I like it the way it is. I'm all for a refurb though, clean and fix everything.

Someone pointed this out to me last time I rode it and complained:

"Do you really think the average family visiting from out of state is looking at the broken ceiling panels or know what's out of order on the ride?"

    Sad but true.

I say keep it...people love it the way it is. Why spend money on something that doesn't need improving. Spend it on putting something back on the Peoplemover track.

Besides I don't ride IASW anyways...

And is oft times a favorite of those that come to "worship" at the "Church Of Walt" on Sundays (in other words, MC meet types)!

I'm all in favor of refurb but keep the ride the way it is! A hallmark of the last 15 years or so of DL management is to fix things that "ain't broke"!

I agree that it's a small world needs a major update, the average guest may not care about ceiling tiles but Disneyland has many local guest (APers) that do care. Knowing what the Imagineers are capable of it's sad to go on it's a small world. I think that since Disneyland doesn't have the space to make the park bigger it shold have top of the line attractions, I would enjoy it's a small world with better sets and effects and animitronics.

Re: It's time to blow up small world

I believe a major downfall of IASW is it's design. For example, look how high that ceiling is. When a lamp goes out or a gel burns through, I wouldn't think it'd be an easy quick fix. Plus, these dolls were designed for a temporary World's Fair, the fact that they're still going is AMAZING. I do think the ride needs a huge update, redesign/clone of the original.

Granted, it is the butt of countless jokes, but it's tacky fun that 3 year olds and APers enjoy.

For someone like me who's only been to Disneyland once in my lifetime... so far... it should stay the same. I think you've seen it too much.
