We were at the park yesterday and saw some Tomorrowland CMs with their 30th Anniversary buttons on. We wanted one really bad - and were pleasantly surprised when we discovered CMs were giving them away to anybody who asked for one at the entrance to the attraction yesterday.

They cleaned it on a regular basis back in 2005 and 2006 with guys hosing down the roof. But for some reason, I have not seen the guys washing down the outside in quite some time. And when they wash off the outside, it looks as clean and shiny as Tokyo's does in that picture. I have a picture of ours right after the guys sprayed off the dirt and the sun glares right off the side of it.

It doesn't help that we have had hardly any rain this winter to help wash dirt away on everything. But still, they could power-wash the mountain on a regular basis like they do Main St every night.

I suppose that a lot of things got extra care during those years due to the 50th.

Apparently the new YOAMD stands for Year of All Mountains Dirty.

Its true though. Alot of trip reports I've gone through say that theme parks and areas in Japan are relatively clean and kept that way. Some of the amusement parks rollercoasters get their seats mopped up after every round!!! And some get their tracks cleaned daily.

I don't know if it has anything to do with work ethnic. I think that management just expects more of their cast members. I don't think Japanese people are any more friendly or harder working than Americans.

And keep in mind that the people who write those trips reports have been to TDR maybe once, and have not yet had the chance to nitpick the place like they do DL.

True. Maybe OLC will let it go just like we do.

then americans CAN work... but if you look at the masses.. way too many americans are selfish, lazy and always looking for what the world owes THEM.

Japanese tend to be very respectful and diligent. They work hard because they believe they are expected to and do not want to let anyone down - its a respect thing. Something sorely lacking in America.. people think they are OWED a job

Except its not just a matter of wiping down seats, or hosing off a roof. Cleaning the roof of Space Mountain requires a crew of humans repelling up and down it, it takes alot of manual labor and time. Not something that is easily done on even a regular basis, but Disneystill does it.

I mean literally they will scrub the corkscrew tracks atop of ladders and cherry pickers. And all this only when the ride has broken down and waiting to start running up again. You never see that happening in Knotts or Six Flags. I don't even think Six Flags cleans their parks on a nightly basis.

And these are THeme Park Review trip reports. ACE = Roller coaster/theme park GODS! hahaha

Doesn't matter how "clean" the coaster is if it isn't mechanically sound.

It's not just paint. It's a painted canvas that's draped over the edge of the mountain. This is why it never peels.

I'd rather have a clean and dangerous roller coaster than a dirty and dangerous coaster.
