But aside from that, I think many of you have your facts tied up. Disney did not reject Star Wars. They didn't even have a pass at it yet. Universal was holding up on making a decision until they took too long, and then 20th Century Fox made the deal for the script to be written. At least I hope I have my facts straight. If someone can quote a source that says Disney rejected Star Wars, then I'll believe it. But as far as I know, the only major passing they've done recently is with Lord of the Rings (at least... making three films).

And if you really want to get to the core of it, you can probably blame Star Wars for Tomorrowland. Star Wars required ILM to be created so that Lucas had control to make new effects. And pixar was a department and a part of lucasfilm before sold to Steve Jobs.

Pixar of course, famous for Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo. Both Tomorrowlands have Buzz Lightyear. Florida has Monsters Inc, Disneyland has Nemo.

But.... you can thank Finding Nemo for raising the submarine voyage from the dead. That lagoon was on its way to be torn out completely believe it or not. Just like what happened in florida.

No, I blame past management for a poor tomorrowland. They lost the true idea. Walt loved the idea of new frontiers, be it the American West, or the next frontier at the time, Space.
Right on man. I totally agree with you.

May I suggest that you all read Kevin Yee's excellent MiceAge article (5/29) "Futurama" on this very subject - the Cartooning of Tomorrowland:

well since DL is really directed to the 7 year old, kids like cartoons, they rather see Buzz Lightyear rather than Buzz Aldrin.

I wouldn't blame Star Wars for anything. I'd hate to be slashed with a $13 light saber or get a mind melding death grip from a darth vader look alike. Weird, Wild, wacky fans.

Boy, blaming Star Wars on it's 30th birthday! How rude!
Why star wars land? The only thing star wars is the mural and Star Tours

So you think Finding Nemo's Submarine Voyage is bad for Tomorrowland? If so, I disagree. The new technologies and special effects for the ride (from what I heard) are supposed to be phenomenal and THAT is what Tomorrowland should be about. NEW stuff.

I don't know that Nemo is properly themed for Tomorrowland, but at least it gets activity in the lagoon again. Sadly, that might be the whole thought pattern held by the execs - "as long as there is activity, everything must be alright". I don't agree with this idea, for the most part.....I am glad the Subs are returning, but I don't see how Nemo fits into the 'world of Tomorrow".
