Actually Episode 2 was HORRIBLE, Episode 3 was disappointing, and Episode 1 has some flaws but it's actually pretty good and has the most star wars feel of all the prequels.
But aside from that, I think many of you have your facts tied up. Disney did not reject Star Wars. They didn't even have a pass at it yet. Universal was holding up on making a decision until they took too long, and then 20th Century Fox made the deal for the script to be written. At least I hope I have my facts straight. If someone can quote a source that says Disney rejected Star Wars, then I'll believe it. But as far as I know, the only major passing they've done recently is with Lord of the Rings (at least... making three films).
And if you really want to get to the core of it, you can probably blame Star Wars for Tomorrowland. Star Wars required ILM to be created so that Lucas had control to make new effects. And pixar was a department and a part of lucasfilm before sold to Steve Jobs.
Pixar of course, famous for Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo. Both Tomorrowlands have Buzz Lightyear. Florida has Monsters Inc, Disneyland has Nemo.
But.... you can thank Finding Nemo for raising the submarine voyage from the dead. That lagoon was on its way to be torn out completely believe it or not. Just like what happened in florida.
