    Rod Miller

Does he still come around (as a "civilian"?) Anyone know if he's doing OK health wise and/or if he's still playing anywhere? Also, is there any mailing address for him -- I'd love to send him a note letting him know how much he added to the magic of the Park!

Off the top of my head, I can't remember what the current Main Street window says that offers piano lessons. Perhaps replace that name with Rod's?
"JESUS!!! That's Cold!" -- Walt Disney's final words.

"You hear people talk about, 'I don't think Walt would like this,' or 'I don't think Walt would like that.' You have no idea what Walt would want! No clue whatsoever! Because the people that worked with him day in and day out didn't know what Walt wanted. Walt didn't know what he wanted 'til he wanted it."

Rod is a true Disneyland, and Disney, legend...it just doesn't seem the same at Coke Corner without him.

I recently attended a meeting of a ragtime piano players' group meeting, which was held a music shop in the OC area. I didn't see Rod there, but I was told that he sometimes shows up to play there.

Thank you brassplayer and wally so much for the info; of course I knew Rod - but just by his first name... (I worked in / at the Park in the 70's...); what an amazing showman; he could play a rag full out, carry on a conversation with a guest, and still keep his eye peeled for people in the park - saying 'Hi!' by raising his eyebrows...

I know how much he will be missed in the Park; and yes, he DOES deserve to have a window in his honor for all of the joy that he brought...

Funny to think of Coke Corner without his presence; he was such an Attraction in his own right

Enjoy a little of Ron's amazing work; you may never hear the likes of this again...

Rod Miller is an amazing man. He was not only SO talented, but, a sweet and kind heart. He always made my kids feel like he remembered them from their last visit. My kids are in their 20's now and they STILL believe 100% that Rod remembered them each and every visit! I figure he sees millions of kids each year, he couldn't have possibly remembered my 2 from our 2 or 3 visits each year, but, you never know. He was a gentle soul and I pray he's doing well. And whoever said that Coke Corner isn't the same was speaking the truth!!

    Re: Rod Miller

As I was remarkinbg to someone else, Rod was someone who was not only a fixture at Disneyland, and made the park just that much more special, but he was a cast member who truly enjoyed what he did, and loved entertaining the guests. Sadly, there are very few cast members left today who seem to fall into that category of boundless enthusiasm.

Add me to the voices of those who hope he is doing well!

It still makes me sad that Rod never got the proper send-off he so very much deserved. How fun it would have been to have a month of "Come and Say Good-Bye to Rod"? He brought much happiness to so many people.

A window would be a wonderful token of appreciation, though.

How right you are; Rod was hired in one time period - when Cast Members where praised / held in high regard (especially those CMs that were Attractions themselves, going that extra mile to bring the Disney Magic to each and every Guest), and left during another time period - when CMs were seen as more easily replaceable. I would like to think that some Fanfare was made over his departure (other than a 3x5 card taped up on the wall at Casting - 'need Piano Player'), but I doubt that they fully understood what the Park was losing...

Guests and Cast Members alike can never forget the contribution that he and countless others made to the Park - and to the Disney legacy...

Rod for his part was adored; someone to stop and check in with every time you heard one of those amazing Rags drifting from Coke Terrace, and the guy never seemed to age in all of his 30 years at the Park!

I too would love to see a window in his honor...

Even though he is gone, would "bringing it up" to City Hall maybe help draw attention to his lackluster goodbye and get the ball rolling on a proper tribute? Just an idea.
