When did Buzz lose the height requirement?

My daughter was thrilled today because she was finally 40" tall and able to go on Star Tours (she's only 4, but a huge R2D2 fan). I remembered that Buzz had the same height restriction, but when we crossed over to the ride, the height-measuring bar was gone. I KNOW it was there before, because I remember measuring her with it when she was still too short. And I know it wasn't just an issue of the bar being gone temporarily, because people were bringing babies on the ride.

Thing is, I'm sure it wasn't that long ago that the ride had a height requirement. Any CMs or savvy Chatters know? Or have I truly lost my mind?

Re: When did Buzz lose the height requirement?

I don't recall there ever being a height requirement. I've been taking my daughter on Buzz since she was 3 months and no one (CM) has ever said anything to me.

Hmm, don't remember any height requirement for Buzz.

Then again, I don't have children, so one might argue that I don't pay as much attention to those things.

Re: When did Buzz lose the height requirement?

I just checked the DL web page, and it doesn't say there is one, but I would swear on a stack of bibles that it used to...This was the first time I've gone since it opened for that very reason.

Or, possibly, I'm a complete moron. I'm always open to alternative explanations...

Re: When did Buzz lose the height requirement?

That's okay, on another forum I swore vehemently that I remember the Fantasyland Autopia using antique-style vehicles. In my memory, I can see them and I remember riding them as a kid.

Turns out that they never existed.

I'm beginning to regret all those drugs I did in college.....

From a Buzz CM: No height requirement ever. Babies to pregnant woman can absolutely ride.

No height requirement on Buzz, ever.

Its an omnimover attraction, just like the Haunted Mansion and there's no height requirement on the Haunted Mansion, is there?

Ghost Host, in the stretch room: "You must be this tall to ride!"

You are getting the Autopia confused with a similar ride they had at Knott's Berry Farm. They used antique style vehicles on that ride.

No, but there should be a leg room requirement. I'll be darned if the &#*$^ Ghost Host doesn't slam the safety bar onto my knee every time he lowers it for me!

I wonder if you are thinking of the Tijuana Taxi that used to be at Knott's Berry Farm year and years ago? They used to have old type vehicles - very reminiscent to that of the early 20th Century. That might be where you got your 'vehicle wires' crossed.

Re: When did Buzz lose the height requirement?

Yeah, that's possible. This was a long (and fairly embarrassing) thread on another forum. I have very vivid memories of the loading area for the Fantasyland Autopia (over by the Motorboat Cruise)...and until that thread I would have sworn the cars were "Model T" types...I even have visual memories of the signs at the entrance to the ride.

These memories are all completely wrong!

As an addendum to Buzz, my wife also remembers checking our daughter's height outside the ride. So, at least we're sharing the hallucination...

It's always nice when your loved ones hallucinate with you.
