Sunday was a great day ... but Monday was better. Best memory of Sunday was after lunch when our group rode on BTMRR. We went in the handicapped line, so they told us that the 7 of us had to split ourselves into 3 seats. Poor MasterChief got squished between me and JuJu ... LOL!
I knew I would be a poor victim of a MC meet someday. LOL!
Then someone mentioned going on Splash Mountain. We went over to check it out:
FastPass is back but return time is after dark and regular wait time almost an hour...
The only thing for it was to go Single Rider!
MaryAnne was really adamant that she wanted to ride in back where you don't get (too) wet. She got her wish. I rode with some teens and convinced them it was SOOO much better riding in the front. They put me in the back. We all fared rather well and came out dry.
Oh. Did I say all?
DisneyIPresume sat in the middle and his log got totally drenched. The rest of the people he was with looked just as wet or even worse.
Lucky for us, we were right next to the great candy place, Pooh's Corner! I wanted to try the Flayva of the Month fudge (Snickers- one for $4) and got talked into getting a box of six ($15):
They really had to pull my arm backward on that one. This was taken after we all had a sampling. Best $15 I ever spent.
Coming up after the break:
Flag Retreat! To DCA - and back again! Maynard Madness!
Almost feels like I was right there and your daughters are absolutely adorable Pezz. Next time we make the trip you guys will have to be our tour giudes on the island.
Hmmm. I also went in for one piece of the snickers fudge when I was there and walked out with a whole box. Didn't hurt my mom's feelings though... she had fudge for days even after us kids got into it. I never did pick a favorite out of the 6 we got... lol
Enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Phoenix between Disney trips.
Memorial Day was very special because of the great Flag Retreat ceremony held at 4:30. Here is the marching band arriving:
We all stand for the colors and the Servicemen and Women and their families in attendance:
It was very moving as the flags were lowered and folded:
Afterward, we decided to head over to DCA to get our Tower on!
Or should I say - THEY decided to get their Tower on...
I gratefully declined the invitation.
Some nice merch in the Store of Terror:
Guess what MaryAnne has her eye on.
And this t-shirt design was way funny:
Almost forgot the Congress of the Cons:
A Congress of One!
On to Monsters, Inc. - where MaryAnne pulled out her monster Rocky Road Marshmallow Thing On-A-Stick!
And then over to the wine bar for a more civilized refreshment:
These are both Echelon Pinot Noir (2004?) and - went very well with the fudge I got at D-Land! I have to thank mcow1 for introducing me to the delights of Pinot and chocolate!
Properly emboldened, we bravely face the most terrifying land of all:
TikiRoomLiz tests the water:
Not too bad she says!
Remember when there was a big green tractor around here?
Strap yourselves in for the wildest ride in...
the back yard?
Very scary stuff:
TikiRoomLiz had never been to these hostile parts and was especially thrilled with this ride:
MaryAnne tries to rub the 4 leaf clover for luck:
And then we all get into a Fun Flyer and take to the air:
Yes, we borrowed a page from the Single Rider book and the 5 of us got into one Flyer:
TRL had also never been to the other Pooh Show:
It's tough to be a bug! Especially with a big dung ball as a house furnishing...
MaryAnne and Bat/Duck Man stayed behind because they are allergic.
And the intrepid wanderers track back to the original Park:
Outside the Opera House, it's Great Moments with Mr. Maynard:
MaryAnne had hiccups and this was not helping:
Learn to pick a stroller or two:
Maynard showed us around the lobby of the Opera House in a decidedly off-center look at the displays and had us all in stitches.
Speaking of stitches!
MaryAnne had to show us this dress in the window on Main St:
It is green and has a necklace with a crown above a little frog. She was very excited about this being a Frog Prince dress.
And would not leave until I took a picture.
So there it is.
And then it was time to use those FastPasses I forgot to tell you about:
Who needs the RHCP when you have a rockin' group like this!
MaryAnne caught in mid-clap looks like she is either pulling a Johnny Sako or showing her level of enthusiasm. But really she liked it. And her hiccups were gone.
That was pretty much the end of the line for us. I gave my FP for Indy to MAiW and Bat/Duck Man (maybe we should call him Stanley?) to work out how to talk their way on or fight over who got to use it. You could say the Pirate Layer ate my FastPass!
This was a big weekend and it was great to see everyone and hang out like that. I am so glad to be part of this community and know so many terrific folks.
I would just like to end this by saying that this is post number 999 for me. And I feel like retiring.
