Tired of themed Year long Promotions

I am so tired of the year long promotional campaigns. Dont get me wrong, the 50th was great,a once in a life time thing that had to be done. But when you take into account that how long the 50th celebration was and that they went right into YOAMD, its been 3 years since weve been able to go to Disneyland as just that, Disneyland. I really hope that they dont continue YOAMD or go right into another promotion that changes the whole feel of the park. I want to see Disneyland as its self again, whos with me!?!

I'm with ya. I miss going to the park when it was just PLAIN OLD DISNEYLAND: THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH! No hidden 50th signage. No graffiti on the Mickey flower garden. No crazy looking fake swans. No tacky placards on each lamp post. Just Disneyland without all the "piercings" and "tattoos".

Sign me up....I agree with you.

The campaigns that Disney does go on, imo, for way too long. You almost kinda start wondering, "Now what dumb thing is Disney going to come up with?"

Count me in. What we need is a gigantic 'dreamcatcher', and several baseball bats, some plastic tarp, and a shovel.

I know this blasphemy from a Disney nerd, but I really don't care about the theming one way or another. It doesn't really change the feel of the park at all to me.

OR..we could ditch the 'dreamcatcher', and use the baseball bats, plastic tarp, and shovel to deal with Sunnygirl... "..don't care about theming", indeed! Grumble grumble. You may miss it when it's gone...

Sign me up too! The 50th was amazing and well executed and well, it was the 50th anniversary and totally acceptable.

YOAMD is just kind of blah and not really needed. Disneyland does not need promotions. It is Disneyland. The world will always flock to its gates simply because of what it is. Promote a new attraction or ride, fine. Seasonal overlay ala Halloween or Christmas, wonderful! But multi-year themed promotion isn't really needed. It's a gimmick and it is an insult to what Disneyland stands for.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

That got me thinking. I'm all in favor for the marketing department to conjure up some crazy unified scheme to sell the parks in the media, but does it need to get into the parks too?

father (to children): Alright kids, we're finally here!

YOAMD CM (all smiles): DON'T FORGET! It's a year of a million dreams!

    father: yah, we're already here...

    CM: DREAM!

In short, it's too much. The marketing's job is to get us into the parks. Once we're there, they need to stop.

Jay-zus, we have a rough crowd today. Allow me to elaborate on my initial statement. I love DIsneyland because it is Disneyland. All of the small details work together to create a wonderful atmosphere on the whole. But i don't give a flying you know what about the promotional theming. It doesn't ruin anything for me, is all I was trying to say.

Go to Magic Mountain indeed. You must be sniffing glue.
